Engine Coolant Help

Hi all,

I just noticed while replacing the air filter that the Engine Coolant is below the low mark.
Can I just add any coolant or do I have to flush the current one and then re fill? The car has 60K Miles.
Also, How do I flush the current coolant?

Thank you all!

I topped mine off to keep it above the min level 10,000 miles ago without any accompanying steps and had no issue. As far as a complete drain, see this link.

Only use the OEM coolant, do not mix it. If your not near a MINI dealer you can also buy from a BMW dealer, it's the same thing just a different bottle. OEM coolant is full strength so you need to dilute 50/50 with distilled water.

Thank you guys!
For my luck I just passed by the dealer and it looks like there is some sort of recall for the EAC Sensor on the radiator and that also involve the coolant and probably why the sensor never gave me a low warning even though the tank is like 3" below the low mark.

My car is OOW but the recall should cover all that.

Lets see how it goes

I have 2016 MCS F55 and when I checked my car for recalls, there were none. What vehicle do you drive?

According to a letter in the mail that I received a few days ago, the EAC situation is not a recall. It is a "limited warranty extension" and "not a notice of a recall or service action". This extends the limited warranty of the EAC sensor to 15 years/150,000 miles and affects the following cars:
  • F54, 2016, Prod. Date September 2015- June 2016
  • F55, 2015-2016, Prod. Date August 2014-June 2016
  • F56, 2015-2016, Prod. Date June 2014-June 2016
  • F57, 2016, Prod. Date October 2015-June 2016

Oh, so this is not a recall. It is probably TSB(Technical Service Bulletin). My F55 seems to be within that date, as it was built in May 2016.
