Data point - 2012 Countryman ran well for 2 years with new and NOT registered battery.
ECS Tuning (or anyone else), can you confirm that the scan tool ES#2975699 registers new batteries? I could not find that function in the Schwaben by Foxwell function list.
Thanks.

Should be able to register with the schwaben tool. Just make sure you get the matched size and CCA CA version.
Like others said it just controls the amount of charge as the battery ages, it supposed to prolong the life of the battery."

I just bought a Foxwell NT530 to register a new battery in my F54 Clubman. Worked great 👍🏻

I replaced with an 80Ah AGM (same as the factory unit) so I didn’t code new battery specs, but it was an option.

New battery is an AutoCraft Platinum AGM H7 from Advance Auto Parts. $150 after core return and before taxes. This was with a 25% off coupon code displayed on the website header.

I noticed in the last 6 months that my car hadn't been doing the auto-stop/start as often. Lately not at all. And lately the first start in the morning took a few cranks. Car is almost 6 years old, I figured it's time.

Mini has a special, $340 for the battery and install, through Jan. 21. https://miniusaservice.com/batteries

Yeah I could have bought the battery at Kragen for $200. But I'm trying to rest my back, and trying to avoid heavy lifting. Plus they did the programming. I don't know how necessary that is, but I can say the car is acting normal again, it for sure knows it's got a fresh one.

Still pretty annoyed that it's no longer just a call to AAA and $120, but I'm satisfied with the route I took.
