2018 Center Cluster compatible with 2017 Models?

Hey all!

Does anyone know if the 2018 Center Cluster with the new slim fuel gauge is compatible with the 2017 F55/56 line? I really like the slim look of the fuel gauge as opposed to the (not always accurate) stack capsule fuel display.

Thanks and happy motoring!

Don't see why not, though you may have some coding to deal with.

I'd be interested but I have NO experience in coding and frankly, although I work in IT, frying my Coop's computer isn't something I want LOL. That said, if people think it will work...I'm always open!

All I've noticed is an improved look for the gas gauge. If I could find a salvaged unit I might try, but for me it's not worth the money to buy new. Rather use the money for performance mods.

This is one of the things I didn't like about the Mini. Not enough to attempt a replacement though. The fuel gauge on '14-'17 looks out of place and cheap. I wish they just used digital, LCD pixels to draw the fuel gauge.

Cant believe it took so many years/ generations for MINI to loose the amount of British kitsch these cars were dealt..... Please MINI (BMW), no more oddball stuff. Leave that to the Nissan Juke

That aside, I do like the new fuel display. Looks a lot cleaner. Couldn't justify the $$ for the upgrade but it does blend very well w/ the rest of the tach. The 17' version fuel gauge still gives me a bit of nostalgia to sports car instrument clusters from the 80's.

Did that many consumers complain about the one we currently have in our 17's that they had to put numbers on it?! I think it's cool (like the a/c screens) but I like analog.. I did get the manual..

I like that it replaces bars with more precise pixels on the gas gauge. My wife's clubman has it and I'm jealous.

Different strokes... I love the oddball stuff. Toggle switches instead of yet another boring row of chicklet buttons? Center speedo and big tach on the steering column? Circle design motifs? Fun trim panels? Animated light effects matching car activities, from sporting rev counter to eco optimization? Stripes and bright colors? Count me in!

If I wanted boring and conservative I would buy some other brand.

That said the new fuel gauge is much better in both aesthetics and usability. Cleaner design and superior visibility in daylight.

I'd like to add one of these to my fuel tank for a truly different looking fuel gauge.
