I have posted this question on several forums, and asked the staff at my mini dealership as well. To-date no one has been able to answer it.

1. ELECTRONIC DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CONTROL
Lock control (EDLC). If you’re a confident driver, and want full engine power with near-complete control, you can switch off DSC and DTC. But MINI still keeps you safe. EDLC kicks in when needed, to prevent slip and stop wheel-spin during aggressive cornering and acceleration.

2. DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL
Stability Control (DSC). DSC is proven to reduce accidents. Intelligent sensors detect if you’re veering even slightly off course. DSC then activates to adjust the engine torque, and applies brake force to individual wheels where needed. You’re in safe hands.

3. DYNAMIC TRACTION CONTROL
Traction Control (DTC). DTC provides the best possible driving force on every surface, even slick or sandy ones. It also restores power to the engine sooner than DSC, and lets the car slide a bit before correcting its course, which is kind of fun if you’re into your driving thrills.

However, there is only one switch regarding traction control. Unless, there is one that I am not aware of. Am I missing something? I thought I knew all this, but obviously not!

 

You press the switch down to switch modes and hold it down for 3 seconds to shut both modes off.

DSC is always on
DTC is on when you press the switch down (light comes on on the dash and switch)
Hold for 3 secs, everything is off

Is EDLC always on? Or goes off when switching off everything else? Not that I would want to turn it off... any diff locking is better than none at all... Just curious.

 

As far as I know it is a fail safe for some control. I usually just have the switch off when performance driving. I had forgotten there was an additional setting when you hold the switch down for 3-5 seconds. Which turns off more of the controls. The ELDT cannot be disabled, there are always some nannies on regardless. You will have a message in the speedo when you first turn off the default and then hold the switch for another 3-5 seconds or so.

 

An easier way to think about it is like this

ELDC - Means everything is off, no traction control at all (I use this mode in the summer on dry roads)
DTC - Is turned on for traction in snow, sand, or loose gravel by pressing the switch.
DSC - Is always on by default once you turn the car on.

 

I would like to know if ELDC can be coded out.

This feature is useless if you have a Quaife limited slip diff.

 

Hmm, must be either something I am doing wrong or it just isn't available on my F54. I can turn off DSC to enable DTC with a press of the toggle, but it never switches all off regardless of how long I hold the switch.

Is there some combination of things that would allow everything to be shut off (i.e.- trans in park, foot off brake, etc...)?

 

No other F54 owners out here willing to comment?

 

But some form or DSC is always on. Even when holding for 3 to 5 seconds, I can tell in hard turns.

 

I was at the MINI Motoring school last week and asked the lead instructor.


When "off" the DSC stays on but is limited to 25-50%. Helps to keep the cars out of the guardrails. It only activates in extreme conditions (like out of control).

Haven’t messed with it recently, but my recollection is that the system works just as has been described here on our ‘17 F54 S All4.

they figured out how to code it out on bmw's, the problem with the bmw ediff is more than just overheating already overheated brakes, it will start to limit torque because the ecu calculates that your brakes are overheated.

less mini TT/track drivers, i've not seen anything for the f56 yet
