NM boost tap/Gauge

Hey y'all!
So I ordered the nm boost tap and a gauge to install in the mini. Anyone got some good recommendations on where to run the hose??? Plus I'm thinking about modding one of the A/C vents to hold the gauge... But looking at the dash, it's gonna be harder then I expected to access the vents. If someone can give me some insight that would be great!

You're better off just getting the gauge pods from cravenspeed. Much easier. As for running, I went along the front just underneath the engine cover then under the intake, made a small hole into the battery space and then ran it into the car using the clutch cable grommet hole. It's the same hole used to run the burger tuning jb4.

Note, be sure to lightly grease all the o-rings as well as when the hose attaches to the tap. I had a boost leak the first time.

I'll put up a picture of mine but if you look for me on Instagram (minif56nyc) you'll see how it turned out. Good luck!

I used a AEM boost gauge do it could be metric. The tube on that is short do I just ran weird from the sensor. I also bought my tap from China for $6.50 looks and works perfectly.

Marco. What is the lowest negative boost (vacuum) do you get? I read somewhere that you should see -18 but I'm only getting -4.

lowest i've ever see was 1 bar, which would be -2. what's been your peak? i forget if you're on an NM Module or JB4 or stock.

Can someone explain why the B48 only shows about -4 in.Hg of vacuum at idle? I see that in Marco's boost/vac gauge, too.

i don't know. at first i thought i had a leak but given that 3 of us are reading values of -4 it must be normal........or we all screwed up

for the record, my tap itself is the NM Brand.

The F56 does not really make any vacuum in the intake manifold which is where you are getting your readings from. I believe the N18 engines from the R5x gen are the same way.

Don't know about the B46/48, but I do know my '07 with the N14 pulled enough vacuum to activate my forge blowoff/diverter valve. Don't have a clue what the threshold was for that though. Could have just been anything less than boost. All I know is it worked like a champ.

So is there a better place to tap to get an accurate reading?

Mine gives an accurate reading. Well, same as my JB4. So I assume it's correct.

The intake manifold taps are fine, they just only show positive boost, not vacuum.
