I listen to my music via thumb drives in my Mini. I have set the play option to random, but have not settled on the best way to get a truly random playback.

I had thought that by selecting "songs", that would do it, but seem to get the same artist playing (different song) playing more than I'd like, other options are Album, Artist, Genre, and a couple of others.

95% of my music is "blues" with some artists having multiple albums while other artists may have only one album.

When set to "songs" I will get the same artist playing sometimes 3-4 times in a row and often playing songs from the same album. Thinking maybe "Album" or "Artist" may be a better choice for better random playback.

Curious what option you guys choose for the best "Random" playback of songs?

Not a huge deal but something I'd be interested in hearing about. Have not used the Sirius radio in months nor OTA radio, so my library gets all the listening time.

 

We use the random setting and it works fine, but our tunes are on the vehicle's hard drive

 

You are suffering from clustering, part of normal random chance, and human interpretation.

 

Just my luck. Couldn't have happened back in college with the girls....noooo has to be on the Mini with my music.
