I did the pads on my 2014 F56 last May. Wish I had saved the old ones.

just out of curiosity what did you need them for? I'm looking to upgrade to carbon ceramic pads here soon and will keep you in mind.

the rear brakes have a spring brake tensioner that sits on the caliper.
the fronts do not. the spring tensioner is attached to the pads. working with Carbotech, this is a big problem. the pads they sent me were too loose and started making noise. they sent me a revised set but it's the same thing. they can *try* to make it wider but they're concerned it'll just be an uphill battle.

an alternative solution they offered me was that if had a set of old pads, they'd sand it down and put their brake material on it...so i would always have the OEM-style base.

so far no other manufacturer has released pads for the f56. EBC has a part number but hasn't started production yet.

i threw the old pads out before realizing what they could have done. i have my parts guy on the look out for a used set. given what you want to upgrade to, may not be a bad idea to hold onto your set.

What compound Carbotechs are you using? All compounds expect the Bobcat squeak on the street regardless of spring tensioners. The squeak is because of the compound not being in the correct operating temp range causing the pads to squeal.

re-reading my post, i realized i didn't specify the issue. the mounting arms are physically not wide enough that after a bit, the pads start to rattle. going over any bump gives you a noise where you think your end links are shot when in reality the pads are just bouncing around in there. typically the pads would get pressure from a spring tensioner (like the rears have) so there would be no rattle and just squeals...but the fronts have the spring tensioner on the OEM pad.

i did use disc brake quiet and on one side i used the blue stuff while the other side i used the red (CRC) stuff and the red stuff seemed to hold up better. after 2 weeks, the blue stuff had separated and melted away. the red stuff was still holding up. that was preventing the rattle.

i went back to OEM pads and a few days before my track events i'll just have to go to carbotech pads and then swap back when i'm done.

P.S. all of this is on the XP8's..
