F56 2016 production cut off and 2017 start date apx

My wife has a 2007 justa which she loves and has been very reliable. (both her and the car).

I'd like to factory order a 2017 as a surprise for her. We split time between
OH/AZ, so which state to order in and date of delivery is very important.
IIRC the 2 door was usually the first to change over and that's what were
going to order.

Thanks,
Dave

MINI usually changes production years starting in July. There will probably be minimal differences between the 2016s and 2017s. Small tweaks to standard equipment, packages, available options/colors, etc.

BMW has said future BMW's and Mini's will have Carplay. I wonder if thats coming in 2017. They've also talked about reducing coverage during the first three years for wear and tear items. For 2016 they got rid of the secret storage compartment and lost the driver's side visor. Wonder what else will be lost in 2017.

Wow! I use my driver's side-visor very often, especially these days. I had one on my 2005MC too. What a thing to cut! Is it still an option?

Post above is correct. I believe they swap over July 1st. We ordered our cars around June 21 and were the first week of production for the new model year.

Totally agree....Eliminating the driver side visor was plain dumb! The design of the MINI prevents swinging the front visor to the side (like in many cars of yesteryear) so it's essential in my opinion!

Fortunately, my 2015 JCW has the side visor, but I believe the F56's in 2016 didn't have it for the most part...may depend by country.

That's actually a great point - MY2017 MINIs will not have the same maintenance coverage as previous years. Specifically, clutches, wiper blades, brake discs and pads, drive belts will no longer be covered as free replacements under the new plan. All other maintenance (oil changes, vehicle checks) will still be covered for 3-years/36k miles.

I bought my 2016 f56 at the end of December, and it has the driver side visor. I purchased it in NJ. I didn't notice if any of the cars in the showroom had it or not.

Thats promising. Looking in more detail, it looks like it may have been removed in Europe but not the US. I'll find out when mine arrives in 3-4 weeks.

I hope that's not true. Once per year oil changes and vehicle checks are hardly worth anything to me. I'm on my third MINI and if experience tells me anything, less maintenance coverage is definitely not a good thing.

I got my F55 2016 in November and it has driver side visor. I think you are right that the US MINI's still have them.

It was on MotoringFile (source: http://www.motoringfile.com/2016/01/...gram-for-2017/) and current MINI owners are getting notices about the change in case they're buying another MINI soon.

I'll miss the wiper blade replacements, but I don't think I've ever had my brake pads or discs wear out in the first 3yrs/36k miles, though I guess it would depend on your driving style. At least MINI still offers some scheduled maintenance - most manufacturers don't.
