Voice Navigation Problems - iPhone 6 using Apple or Google Maps
Hi Mini Friends,
I am experiencing problems when trying to use Apple Maps or Google Maps with my iPhone 6. I have a 2016 Cooper with the Media Package. I typically use my iPhone to enter a specific destination address in Apple or Google Maps and then listen to the audio commands via Mini-Connected.
After starting the destination navigation in my iPhone, I hear the correct audio navigation commands, however, Mini-Connected dials my phone number at the same time (I can see this on the Mini Connected Display screen). I can cancel the phone number that is being dialed using the toggle dial switch, however, when the next audio navigation directions are read, Mini-Connected once again dials the same telephone number again. This happens each time an audio instruction is read.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks!
PS:I had a 2014 F56 and had a similar problem using an iPhone 5s.

Not a problem - this is by design. Apple Maps, Google Maps and indeed, several other GPS apps are designed to "call" yourself to ensure the audio comes through the speakers. This is so that it works on basically any car (or device) that uses Bluetooth Handsfree. This also lets you listen to whatever audio source you want in your car without having to worry about missing the voice cues because it will always come through as a "call".
If it really bothers you, you can set Apple Maps or Google Maps to output audio to your phone's speaker instead.

- Go to Settings, then Navigation Settings
- Make sure Voice Over Bluetooth and Play as Bluetooth Phone Call are selected
Apple Maps:
- You have to be in the car, connected to Bluetooth and you have to have a route programmed in (I think)
- Tap the sound icon on the lower right and there is an option to switch audio to Bluetooth and another to have it come in as a handsfree call
