Shift **** fading

I have had my 15 MCS for about 6 weeks, and have about 2300 miles on it. I have noticed that the printing on the shift **** is wearing off. I have the 6 speed manual. Anyone else see this?

2 years strong and no fade. I think the printing is actually under a clear coat? I've thought about this before but idk.... Do you have pics?

You're not alone! I've had my 2015 MCS for about 7 months, almost 14k miles. Seems like mine is fading off as well.

Thanks for the pics yep, first I have seen that, even on the Gen 1 MINI fading took a long time.

Interesting. Have you called MINI to see if there are other complaints? I'd assume something like this would be fixed by them.

This is mine after 6 weeks and 2300 miles, the flash made them stand out more than with the eye. In person you can hardly see the 4 or 6 anynore.

Warranty replacement?

Personally I'd go with it and wipe off the rest of the graphic so it'd be stealthy.

As an update, I mentioned it at the dealer during an oil change, and they ordered a new shift **** under warranty. I will have it swapped out next time I am there.

Mine is almost completely faded away. Fortunately, this is the only issue I've had during 17,000 miles.

I live where it gets cold, I wouldn't want to grab hold of the whalen **** when it is below zero. While I am sure they are nice, I can't see paying that much for a shift ****.

picked up a new 2015 (1/16) and noticed the numbers on the shift **** where all faded. I mentioned it to my salesperson before I signed the paperwork and they took a photo of it and sent it to the sac manager. A part of me suspects that they swapped out someone else's with the one in mine sitting in the dealer garage as it looked a bit worn as well. Mine looked like one of the photos in this post, but uniformly faded.

Getting it replaced under warranty today. Took forever for the part to come in though.

Done! Now that looks like a proper brand new shifter. Don't know what is causing the fading. Will keep an eye on it for the future. Maybe put a piece of 3m clear vinyl to stop the rubbing or the uv?
