Switching Between Driving Modes

Was on a long drive late last night. Was changing between driving modes and noticed that ever time I changed modes the foot well lighting and interior door lights would come on for about 5 seconds before going dark again.
Anyone else noticed this happening? It seems like a really dangerous feature as it is quiet distracting when driving at 100mph!

I've never changed modes while driving....I always wait until I'm stopped. I've never noticed the lights coming on though.

Going 100mph and being distracted-not a good idea........my lights go through the color cycle (about 5 seconds) and then return to where I had them previously set.

Your Mini will go 100mph?

I hope there's an easy way to just turn them off altogether.

Mine turns red for a couple seconds when when I turn on sport mode and the center screen says "lets motor hard". Turns yellow,I think, when I put it in normal and the center screen says "lets motor". Turns green and says "lets minimalize", I think, when I put it in green mode. I dont use green mode much.
But I like the color changes. Then again, I dont ever drive a hundred........................................... ... pffffffftttttt

look in your settings, there is a way to turn that off. or just call your local dealer and chat with one of the mini genius' there and they can guide you to shut that feature off.

Perhaps there is a way to adjust/cancel your lights from coming on during mode change. I want to get rid of the white light around the circle of the radio. Too bright. I'd rather see the yellow that appears when adjusting volume.

SETTINGS --> CENTER INSTRUMENT --> EVENT DISPLAY, uncheck Driving Mode

I haven't seen an option to turn off the ambient lights changing color when switching between driving modes though...

I like it though...makes me feel like I'm in a space ship "RED ALERT!"
