I'm thinking of purchasing the JCW tuning kit for my 2015 F56 S. I'm mostly interested in the increased exhaust sound, the tune/extra HP is secondary for me.
I'm aware there is a open/closed position. Can anyone describe how much louder the closed position is over stock "S" exhaust? Especially from inside the car. I can tell from YouTube videos that outside the car is a little louder, but I'm wondering if I have to open the exhaust baffle in order to hear it inside the car.
I've seen a few YouTube videos on the JCW tuning kit, but it is hard to tell from these. I would love to hear some feedback here. Thanks in advance.
Closed position is noticeable in the garage with the windows down. It's decently quiet with the windows up. By this, I mean you can't really tell it's not stock. Open the exhaust valve and you can easily hear it with the windows up.
I have a somewhat related question: How would I go about getting the CF exhaust tip surrounds that are part of the JCW Pro-Tuning Kit for my JCW stock exhaust? Will they even fit? Just curious...
The F JCW system has tips , but I dont have the ID on the size. Also dont have the ID on the CF or the stainless ones but they do have a set screw and looked very big.
Personally I think the JCW Tuning Kit exhaust is really quiet when it is closed. I think the factory JCW cars have a louder exhaust compared to the closed JCW Tunig Kit Exhaust. Once you open the baffle though - it's game over lol
We've installed the F56 JCW tuning exhaust and it does sound good when opened. But closed it is pretty quiet similar to stock. The other downside is that it is heavy like the stock exhaust.
Now we've been using the Remus which first off is lighter, but works the same as the JCW as it has a flap to make it loud or quiet. But actually has 4 modes on the flap:
Closed
10% open
40% open
100% open
And since the carbon tips aren't avail for the JCW yet, we can get them for the Remus.
We have 3 versions of the Remus to fit different budgets and sounds.
1 Axle back only (just rear muffler connecting to stock mid pipe)
2 Sport Has front resonator that connects to stock downpipe, includes rear muffler
3 Race connects to stock downpipe, but no front resonator. includes rear muffler.
Another option is the Quicksilver, but not as nice.
The JCW carbon tips are now available to order. I was looking to see if they had been released here state side and they are. I almost brought a couple in just to look at them, may end up getting the pair here within the next month or two. They are good to order now though.
I am addicted to the way this exhaust sounds. Closed gives a nice quiet note, much like the stock. Which it looks like everyone agrees on here lol. When you open it up though, just wow! I love the sound of mine and always drive with it open, whether I am in Mid-mode or Sport-mode.
