Snow driving?

How do the minis hold up in snow? I got all season tires, but how does the car drive when there is snow on the ground?

It mostly depends on the driver, not the car or tires

Better than if you had summer tires. Worse than if you had winter tires.

It's better than the R50! I drove about a month in the snow on All-Season tires last winter, the kind of all-season tires they have for Canada, and it was fine. I took it really easy. I still felt much better when my winter tires came in.

The R50 was just dangerous. The first snow fall I was into a curb, $$$.

Mostly the Driver however I think Winter Tires give you an edge...especially in stopping distance.

My 2 previous cars were AWD, so I was a little nervous going back to FWD, but I got the winter tires and it was solid. Can't answer about the all season in the snow, but if you're at all worried go for a set of winter tires. I'm in Canada and we get a fair amount of snow where I'm at.

A mini with the correct WINTER TIRES ( read - not all seasons ) is amazing in the snow. our only limiting factor is low ground clearance.

Of course the need for true winter tires depends on where you live and how cold it really gets.

We have many customers that put snow tires on their cars in the winter and have no issues with typical winter driving. All seasons are better than summer tires, but they are a compromise. They are decent in all seasons but not excellent in any. We strongly recommend customers to run winter tires as the rubber is softer so they do not freeze and will be able to dig in and grip the snow covered road better.

MINIs are some of the best vehicles I've driven in winter weather - but I do recommend an aggressive set of all-season tires, or winter tires.

I was actually very impressed with the set of Kumho Ecsta PA31s I installed on my fiancee's R56 last fall.

I've never had a problem with the all season or winter tires in my MINI's during Michigan winters. My 2010 S Hardtop with all season tires was probably one of the best cars I've ever driven in the winter.
