F55/F56 Shift suggestion - how to turn OFF?

Shift suggestion - how to turn OFF?
Does anyone actually like that "shift suggestion" display? Or try to follow it?
I've only driven my man. trans. about 1,100 miles, but I've never sought its advice as to whether this is a good time to shift from 3rd to 5th, for example.
I do like the gear position indicator - but can I turn off those annoying upshift suggestions?

On my R57 and R59, the gear shift indicator would occasionally 'disappear' and I think the routine for getting it back was to scroll the OBC display to fuel mileage and then press-and-hold the stalk button until the indicator reappeared. So it's possible it's the same on the F56, in which case the same process may toggle off the indicator as well as toggle it on.
On my second generation cars, I have found the indicator to be extremely accurate. If it says change up, it means that the same power as I am currently using is available in the suggested gear, and not just that it is more economical. Now that I have the SD diesel it fairly frequently tells me to change down a the big diesel pulls like a train from idle so it is tempting to let the engine run at lower revs than is efficient.
So I think getting used to the indicator with some more miles would be a good idea as you may find it more of a useful source of information some day and less of a machine telling you how to behave....

You can probably code it out using ESYS or even easier Bimmercode. I found some mention of it on the first BMW forum search as,
SP_ANZEIGE -> aktiv
SCHALT_PKT_BC -> aktiv
Not sure if this will be the same thing in the MINI, but it is a start for you to look at. Obviously you don't want it to be aktiv, so from Bimmercode you would choose the not active option. If you find it!

It's funny because I actually follow it, putting the car in sport mode makes the suggestions a lot more aggressive, and I tend to follow it as well. There are only a few times I can be smarter than the car, and that's when I know either there is a slow down or a place to speed up ahead. Oh, I guess I have the HUD with the gear indicator in that though, so I don't often look at the shift suggestion. Before I coded the HUD to do that, I liked the shift suggestion, as I often found myself thinking I needed to be 5th, but 6th being more than enough power. Owell! Good luck with coding it out!

I thought maybe I was nitpicking and kept it to myself. When my wife first drove the car the other day I asked her "so what did you think?" The first thing she said was "the shift suggestion is annoying" and she rarely uses the word annoying. I'll try to code it out but worse case scenario I'll throw tape over it. If I'm on the highway in 3rd gear for some ridiculous reason, that's where I want to be and I will change gear when I decide to.
Best,
Gene

I don’t pay all that much attention to it, except when I care to look. One time during spirited driving I looked at my speed and noticed I was still in 2nd gear!! lol! The car can handle it but not something I’ll make a habit of! I’m used to driving by “feel”....this is why the manual transmission is my preference!
