Back to the shop!!

Got my 2014 MCS back Monday after 43 days in the shop getting the transmission replaced and I be damned if I didn't go and get in it tonight and get the drivetrain malfunction error and the car will barely even idle. WTF POS!! Only have 6400 miles on it.

Put my wifes 2012 2 door through the lemon process and i gotta say BMW was really cool about it. Had it in the dealer 8 times for electrical problems within the first 2 years and not only did they buy it back, they gave here $1000 Mini credit towards beautify-ing a new one. The whole process took a couple months, but it might be worth talking to a lawyer about.

Thanks I don't even know how to begin I will give them a call Monday, after I talk to the dealer about getting it towed back in.

Sorry about your disaster Mini. I would hope the dealer would volunteer to let you out of that car without threatening to lawyer up, lemon it, etc. No dealer needs that crap and neither do you. Whether you decide to take hold of a 2015 or switch brands is up to you. I feel for you man.

Thanks I'm gonna make some calls tomorrow and see what happens. I will keep y'all updated.

I wouldn't have lasted this long before raising hell. It's ridiculous.

Hey VYPUR, I've been following your thread and I sure hate to hear all of the problems that you are having as well. After I ordered my first MCS at the end of January I went through the photo threads looking for similar ones like mine and yours looks the closest to what I did on my build with the exception of I think you did a black roof/mirror combo and I did the body color roof/mirror combo.

Sure is a shame such a good looking ride is having all those issues. I hope MINI and your dealer will work with you to make it right without a lot of pushback especially since your a second time owner and its been in the shop this long.

I haven't taken delivery of mine yet, but hopefully I will in about 2 weeks since my ship is docked in Baltimore and only about two days away from the VDC port in Brunswick, but to put it in perspective your car has been in the shop longer than what it has taken to build mine from order date to probably delivery date and that is crazy when you think about it.

I wish you the best of luck and hopefully one way or the other they will set it right. Your due for some good news when it comes to your MINI.

Thanks let's hope it's all taken care of and hopefully yours will be good and out your garage soon.

I wouldn't bring up the "lemon" word to the dealer. They will do everything to make you not go that route. You need to find a good lemon law lawyer. If you haven't saved all your repair invoices get copies from the dealer.

Probably the most bizarre part of this is that the dealer didn't have someone do an extensive test drive on the car. Had they gone 45 days, might have spotted the fact that they didn't fix it.

I'd want a new car.

VYPUR,

I would definitely go the buyback/lemon route. 43 days is 13 too many by most state standards. It wasn't fun for me, but I went the "buyback" route for a 2008 MC and unfortunately ended up rejecting the 2009 replacement. If you PM me, I'd be happy to provide some info that may help you.

Greg

About 15 years ago our next-door neighbor replaced a Camry under the lemon law. Bad stuff can happen.

Man, that's a long time to be in the shop! Have you been driving a loaner? If so, does the loaner do 60 in reverse, into a hand brake 360, into a four wheel drift? I'm kidding! I would never suggest that sort of behavior.

I remember a recent thread where a guy did take his F56 loaner (he has an R56 in for service) to an Autocross track.
He read the contract and it didn't say he couldn't do that (so he did!).

Sounds like the stories of the Shelby GT350 H, coming back to Hertz with welding scars on the floor where folks installed, then removed cages. I have my own story that's not quite fit for print, but it may have involved renting a Lotus Elise and perhaps doing a track day outside of Vegas, but that's just unsubstantiated rumor.
