Speedometer screen without on-board computer
Anyone have pics of the speedometer screen without the on-board computer option?
I have not added this option, and now I am starting to worry that there might be screen of lower quality. Maybe even monochrome (orange)? I do not care about the added information, but if the screen is better I might add the option just for that. I hate orange.

In Canada, at least, there appears to be no digital speedometer without the on-board computer (OBC).

If that is the case, you may want to get at least the basic navigation. I think the "screen" with the base radio and no nav is orange... That may be configurable, but not sure.
Mosco, I am talking about the little screen inside the speedometer (next to the tachometer).
On-board computer is an optional extra, at least in Europe. It gives you readout of mpg, current speed, average speed, distance to drive on current tank, and that kind of data in this little screen.

As far as the Orange screen goes, even with the onboard computer, if the lights are on, the display text turns orange (And the speedometer lights up orange), if the lights are off, the text is white.
Standard in the US. It's an option in Canadia and apparently Europe too.

Well, you have the upperhand (I assume english is you mother tongue), but I would say it is an little LCD-screen mounted inside the speedometer gauge!

Cool thing about that LCD readout: when its dusk (i.e. Not completely dark) the screen displays white lettering, even if the headlights are on. Only when it's completely dark does it show orange lettering. Very cool.
So then it will not be possible to change diodes (to another color) inside the gauges, and get rid of the orange fully. Bummer. Or maybe I should say Bimmer.
That was one mod I had in mind, if it had been possible.

I'm in agreement I must admit. After having an orange instrument cluster for so long in my BMW I grew to miss the white lettering in my old Audi.
Orange/red for the instrument cluster makes safety sense ... they're colours that don't dilate the eyes when you look at them, which means you can glance down at the instruments and glance back up at the road without your eyes readjusting.
it's also why astronomers use red flashlights to read starcharts and take notes at night.

I dislike the red display because I had to wear my reading glasses or it's a blur. This was the first car I had to wear glasses to see that red print. When it's white it's fantastic (should be optional).
As far as white print blinding me at night; nope, I have that now.
