Costco Pricing is Out

I talked to my local dealer and they said that they've worked out a contract pricing with Costco on the 2014 / 2015 Minis. I don't know the exact details because I've already purchased my vehicle but he mentioned it was $1,025 above invoice.

Those with Costco participating dealers might want to inquire about this no-haggle pricing.

But often these types of deals only apply to in-stock cars, not special orders which many Mini are. Same with USAA, we could have gotten over $1,000 off an in-stock but only $250 off an ordered car.

Check the fine print. In the end it is really up to the dealer anyway, there is nothing that requires them to honor the Costco price. But they do want the business.

Costco pricing depends on the individual dealer and what they've agreed to with their local Costco's

Is it worth bringing this up to the dealership? I've placed my order and given a deposit - I'm assuming at this point the ability to negotiate is gone.

Until you sign the contract (when the car comes in) the car is still theirs and you are not obligated to take it. If you ordered something funky they definitely won't want to be stuck with it, so they will do whatever it takes to get you to take the car.

Also, in regards to Costco...not every MINI store is an official "Costco Auto Program" dealer. Dealers in markets with high competition will often just match the Costco discount to earn your business, but they are in no way obligated to...whereas a true Costco dealer is required to.

That makes sense. I just figured I've already given them the deposit, so I probably don't have a lot of room to change numbers. FWIW, my MA said my options, while many (sticker is a little over $31k), they'd be able to sell pretty quickly.

Sounds like it may be worth a conversation, but your second paragraph makes me even less inclined to push at all. To be honest I'm happy with what I'm paying, I'm just ready to have the car already - and its been a little more than three weeks for me. I have all the respect in the world for all of you guys (and gals) who've been waiting for months on end.

Of course they will say that even if it is a lie. They are salesman / car dealers. They just say that to make you think MINI is selling like hot cake, and you don't ask for further discounts. If what they are saying it true, then they will have no problems at all giving you back the deposit if you decide to back off.
Oregon has only one MINI dealer, and they don't participate in Costco auto program. When I asked if there's any discount for being a Costco member, they said they can give me $250 off. If you didn't ask yet, I don't think it's too late yet.

Sorry, I explained that poorly.

My MA and I were discussing the deposit, and how it says it's non-refundable - and I'm fine with that. Look at my join date here, this is long overdue. Anyway, I remarked that in my industry, real estate, so many people don't understand when something says non-refundable it really means it. He responded that they have flexibility if your build has mainstream appeal and they think they can sell it. He essentially said if something were to happen and I needed to cancel my order they wouldn't keep my money because they'd be able to sell it off the lot.

Like I said before I'm fine with the price, it's within my budget etc, but next time I talk with him I'll float it out there I'm a Costco member and see if its worth anything.

In most states a car deposit is always refundable regardless of what the dealership says. Check your states laws. In Texas there is no such thing as a non-refundable car deposit. Any dealership that says otherwise is just BSing their customer.
