that's what I like to hear! how many hours do you estimate for labor if you were paying a reputable shop to install it?

 

Just to put it on the table: This pipe should work with any aftermarket (e.g. JCW) exhaust system that may come along?

 

I spoke with a Mini mechanic and he said about 3 hours with a lift. It's the multiple heat shields that are the problem, not the actual DP. I have a feeling lots people will buy the Extreme Ceramic Black DP and not install all the shields

Looks great - my concern would be that a tune may well be needed with a de-cat and there isn't really anybody able to offer ECU tunes - just standalone piggyback systems.

Do you expect the car to need a tune to get it running right?

It seems US and EU spec cars have different downpipes, because US has two cats and EU only one in the exhaust-system. This might be the B48/B46 difference.
So be careful when ordering an downpipe, that it will fit your car.
Any progress on the downpipe this thread is about?

 

If u were to get the a TURBOBACK system from a Europe Manufacture. It should bolt up with no problems.
The only difference is where the Downpipe and Front/Center pipe bolts up to.

Btw OP where u get that carbon fiber front lip??

I had a catless DP on my N54 motor and it felt great before I tuned it. I'm hoping it's the same on the B48

 

I believe you're incorrect here. The Euro Systems have a different interface at the downpipe. If you get a Euro catback system you'll be OK, but not the other way around. I got the first Remus system and had to cut the first 5-6" off my stock system to make it fit up right. If this down pipe is made for a US spec, car (which it looks to be) then the situation is the same.

OK. To make sure we're all on the same page. Remus offered two variations of their F56 exhaust. The first option was a "full system" that bolted to the downpipe. You could get it two ways (with a straight pipe or with a silencer). This was supposed to be a "no cut option." The other system didn't include this front pipe at all and required cutting the stock system a distance in front of the stock muffler. I went with the first system, calling it a "full system" preferring not to have to cut anything and I call the second system that required cutting a "cat back system."

However, as a result of the difference between US and Euro spec designs my supposedly "no cut" system required that I cut the first roughly 6" off the stock system and clamp it to the Remus front pipe so that it would mate with the US downpipe. The Remus front pipe was designed to use an adapter (a 6" straight pipe which they supplied for Euro systems) so the install was simple, but it has rendered my stock system unusable in any future scenario.

I finally found out the US Spec DP connection utilizes "Full Marmon Connection"
