F55/F56 New Motors for 2015 MCS?
BMW did the same thing with the F30 328.
Early 2012 had the N20, later 2012+ have the N26.
Essentially, the change was in the emissions equipment, specifically, the downpipe. Read more, here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=756878

What I said. The only thing that's unclear is whether the F56 JCW model with the new engine will be a late 2015 model or 2016. Motoringfile said somewhere it could be released in Europe early 2015, here spring. That's gonna be a hot car I was tempted to wait for it.
No, I wasn't.
I wonder where you found that I was kidding?
I was just saying "more likely" than richer running engine.
I didn't say B46 will detonate. I was stating the fact of physics about engine detonation in general and its root cause.
I work on boosted race engines for living, been doing for about 20 years now, and see all the time - detonated engines, when someone tunes their engine too lean. Then it ends up in my shop. When engines detonate, after fixing up all the mess, remapping the ECU a bit richer is one way to prevent it from happening again.
But then I really don't know if B46's tune is leaner than B48 - that was someone else's speculation not mine.
In racing, even when drivers notice a detonation, they keep going especially when nearing the finish line. You just have to.
Sometimes this is how it ends up requiring a bit more work required than just top end repair.

Chazman - that's a 3 cylinder now.
