The other member had a Check Engine Light and, if my memory serves correctly, it was due to fuel evaporation system error. It was a defective sensor that sensed false fuel vapor leak from the evap system.
Let us know what you find out from the dealer.
If you want, you may just disconnect/reconnect the battery (-) terminal which should reset/turn off the light. However, that will not fix a problem if really exists, and the CEL would come on again. But if it was just one time fluke, it should remain turned off.

That would be me. Had the same issue, as chazman stated it was a sensor in the emissions system. Dealer took care of me, and gave me $500 in parts department credit for the troubles which I didn't even ask for nor expected ... Dunno if your car has the same issue but it would make sense. Mine occurred at 700 miles...
Check Engine light went off last night after about 8 starts during the day.
F56S delivered to Mini at 7AM. this morning
They want the car for the whole day, so I was given a Countryman S.
We'll see what code is stored.
We had run through a half tank of gas before the Ck Engine light went on.
Gas cap was secure when checked.

Would't worry about it.
