Agreed, this holds true for most online forums when compared the general population of a particular group. It takes effort to join a forum, and then even more effort (in the grand scheme of things) to actually participate.

I'd gather that there are a lot more users who aren't registered and lurk, though - again, same for most internet forums of a particular niche.

That's likely why forums aren't a really good place to get a true sense of something. We, the vocal minority may not necessarily represent reality.

Lol...likely even 15% knows the forum is here....much less care...there are maybe 5 ACTIVE mini forums, plus Facebook.....so divy up the 5-6% of folks that care between 6 or 7 sites....
And it matters cause? Most folks drive their cars....
Few pontificate about them....it is a tiny percentage of folks who have passion about anything...
And car love and gearhead-ism has been on the decline.......
Once the warrenty ends....more folks may appear...looking for cheap fixes...

Free and clear car ownership is great...then the $$ can go to mods!!

 

And you can use the $$ as for down payment for next car when selling the current one.

I would have guessed a really low percentage. But according to the stats there are 1.1 million members of NAM! BMW has made around 3 million cars. Not sure how many original minis were made. But still do the math....higher than I would have guessed.

Seems more right...maybe 5000 of those post in a year....with 1000 active....
If a username is made, then a post made....it is a "user" for years....and the car can be resold...but the user remains....
Heck...back n the sites early days before it was corporate owned, many folks had MULTIPLE usernames..... Or would get kicked out, come back etc....
Forums are pretty old school with the advances in social media........
Most of the regional sites ( on other forums...the ones here were never popular)have turned to ghost towns....generally active membership imo it is like a day at the beach with cold water..lots of shrinkage!!!
