F55/F56 LED Ring Question?
LED Ring Question?
Hoping there is a simple answer to this, as the owners manual can be vague and overwhelming at the same time.
Problem: Occasionally the LED ring in my wife's new MCS will not come on for up to 10 minutes after driving. I don't drive the car that much, but did experience this today. Is there some simple explanation for why the ring doesn't come on at all for a few minutes, or do I have our first service issue???
Thanks
Mike

Maybe it needs a "reset" of sorts, uncheck and check everything again.
Maybe it is something as simple as that?
Not to suggest the obvious, but have you checked the center instrument settings to see what you have checked / unchecked? If most of the "event" based options are unchecked, the led ring may not light up in most circumstances.

Suggesting the obvious is exactly what I'm looking for, so no worries

I will run through these today and see what the wife has selected. Hopefully, it is because we have failed to select something, as I really don't relish the idea of taking the car in for service already. When it happened to me yesterday the ring lit up as usual on our first trip, but upon starting on our second trip with all the same parameters selected (I believe?), it didn't light up for a few minutes.
Thanks for the suggestion, as I mentioned, this is not my daily driver and I'm still figuring out the common items, let alone this groovy mood ring. LOL

Don't forget, each key retains its settings so first trip could have been with the old settings (doors never locked/unlocked to tell it was a new key) and the second trip could have used the new key's settings.
Nope, only one fob used and in the car, though I will keep this in mind if I ever use my fob.
Went into the settings and made sure the ring was on and that no conflicts existed in the event/basic selections. Didn't have any issues on todays ride, but will keep on eye on it. We've only had the car for a little over a week and am still getting accustomed to everything.
Thanks' for the suggestions

UPDATE:
I thought the problem was solved, as the spousal unit hasn't complained about it lately. As it turns out, it happened again today; coincidently on her way to the dealer to pick up some goodies. MA took a look at the settings, confirmed nothing was a miss, and then stated that this has been brought up by other owners in the last few months and they don't know why it happens? I wasn't there for the conversation, and the wife said the MA told her this was normal????
Anyone else have this issue at all? I have the ring set to be on in every circumstance selectable, so I'm not sure why an LED would need "warm up" time?
Thanks

Too bad, the software must be buggy. I thought they had 1 year worth of beta testers with the 2014 Mini Hardtop.
Off topic question, but about that LED ring, does anyone know approximately how many LEDs are in that ring? I'm just curious how many steps it has, or how detailed it is, like in how many pixels should I expect. Wouldn't be that useful if all it has is like 5 LEDs and it only shows in 5 steps for RPM and such.
