Even more difficult for some now...

Check out this other thread I started:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-working.html

Now even lights don't seem to flash anymore for me when locking the car.

So it should be there, if it's available.
Audible lock and unlock is not an option for vehicles without the factory alarm system regardless of what the manual states. The manual is designed to incorporate all F56 models and all options regardless if equipped (think "your model may vary", scenario).

If you actually go into the settings menu of your vehicle, you will see that the "audible setting" is not an option or even listed.

I totally understand about the "your model may vary" thing, but God forbid that they would actually simply add a notation that the feature is only available on vehicles equipped with the optional alarm system. And avoid unnecessary confusion. And add a simple notation in the Configurator that the alarm feature adds an audible beep when locking your Mini. As much as I love Mini, they really fail too often with documentation and customer communication.

Getting back to the audible-beep thing, it would not be difficult at all to just install a stand-alone horn, then trigger it via a relay from whatever circuit it is that flashes the lights when you lock the car via the keyfob.

Good idea,
A relay and a 150 db air horn should do the trick.
Perhaps a phrase from "I'm an Okie from Muskogee", blasting from an external speaker.
Better yet, an air suspension installation so it can bounce up
and down while tooting.
