First, you must determine. Is it male or female.

Second, what do you want to convey? Femininity? Masculinity? Job performance expectations? Looks?

Third, will it be serious, humorous, or the name your spouse wouldn't let you name your kids?

What have you named your car?

The Butler
It's my husbands commute car.

He said it was most certainly male.

To celebrate it's British heritage, he wanted something British. It's serves him like a butler, not something we in America have very often, so we looked up butler names.

We went the humorous route. For those that know the 70's movie, Murder By Death, you'll get this. If you've never seen it, it's a star studded comedy, that's a must rent from Netflix. We named our car after the butler on that movie.

Our VO has been named Jamesir Bensonmum. Benson for short. Ben, if you're familiar.

I like to go against the grain and my cars have always been male. My F56 is named "Duke". It took me a long time to settle on a name that fit his character.

I wanted the car to have a name that was Masculine but not a joke. My last car was "Maverick" So I wanted a strong name.

My F56 is deep blue / white top and mirrors / black wheels. It reminds me of Doctor Who's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardis . It fits well, as Doctor Who is a british show. I'm torn on a name. Should the car name be "The TARDIS"... "The Doctor"... Still trying to figure it out. As an aside, I was thinking about vanity plates of "TIME LRD" (for those that follow the show, this will make sense), but my 15 yr old son begged me not too :D

YEAH! Another Dr.Who fan! LOVE IT! Especially the potential vanity plate. You'll know only a select few here in the States will get it. :-)

"Toaster" because the red LED heartbeat looks a bit like a Cylon's eye from Battlestar Galactica (reboot).

Black everything (roof, mirror caps, wheels), including tinting makes him look intimidating like the baddies on BSG.

I named mine 'Hunter'. For a few reasons. I wanted it to be a male name. I wanted it to be a common name in England. It conveys a message of my MCS being a hunter of other competing car models, LOL. And lastly, it brings to mine the color Hunter Green.

Mine is named "Wulfric", an ancient Anglo Saxon name meaning "Leader of Wolves". The Anglo Saxons were a Germanic tribe that migrated to England (get it ).

I'm leaning towards a name even more geeky...I doubt anyone on here would know what it's from if not for a google search.

I don't name any of the machines that live with me.

Nor do I anthropomophize the machines, because they don't like it. <veg>

Mine is definitely female. I'm not really sure how I decided this but the volcanic orange color, black roof and silver spoke wheels it said "girl" to me.

She's named Wirbelwind. I found this name from one of my favorite Japanese anime. It's used as a the name of the computer in the ship piloted by the main characters. The ship itself is shaped to look like a phoenix and over the years has had several colors, including orange.

Funny cause when I read your name I thought "I feel like this is an anime I know".
Wirbelwind is from Kiddy Grade. I recommend it. Kind of on the girly side but there is fan service.

When I first saw the VO option on Mini's site, I immediately thought of Benny The Cab from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. As it's one of my favorite movies, it was a no brainer. Add some checkered stuff, (I'm a big fan of old school Vans, so this was a double plus) and we have Benny.

First name that popped into my head was Sheldon. I'm a fan of the television show, Big Bang Theory. I want to get personalized plates that say BAZINGA!

I have never EVER named one of my cars. Having said that, my MINI seems like an "Alice" to me...

It never even occurred to me to name a car before. Who DOES that!? Well, apparently I do. I hope Dobby, named for the mischievous and very loyal house elf from Harry Potter, is currently hanging out with the longshoremen at port and getting into a little trouble while he waits to catch a ship. Got the Brit connection and I really like thinking of my MINI being mischievous and loyal. My son tells me to just not keep a sock in the car...

Well I'm not much for car naming but this is my wife's car and she named it Niko. There is a story that I won't get into.

meanwhile... I found this site that will make custom vinyl lettering if you are so bold as to not only name your car but also plaster it on its backside. This site seemed to have many font options, colors, customization and an option for 3M vinyl....

https://doityourselflettering.com/

I haven't bought from them so I can't give a testimonial but the prices are reasonable.
