What does it actually mean when your status is ‘scheduled for production’ and you have a VIN number?is it being produced or is it about to be produced. I called mini usa and they mentioned that my car is scheduled for July 27 but my MA had said, and still says, July 1 production dateWhat do you guys think?
I got stung with a dealer already, don't want to get stung again.

Ok, so I did the automated steps for the status and it said estimated completion date July 1. it is kinda weird that the rep said one thing and the automated comp said another.

It's been a few years since I went through this--where are you getting your production numbers and build information?

I do not think you can get a VIN until the car is actually built. You may have a production number though.

I would tend to believe mini usa over the dealer since the info is right in front of them and they gain nothing by lying.

After ordering your car with the dealer they will then typically give you a build sheet. On the top left corner should be a production number.

Then you can take that number and call 1 866 ASK MINI and it will prompt you to say your production number. It will give you the info. Otherwise you may also press zero and a rep will give you the latest on your build.

Hmmm. Got the build sheet, no production number. At the time I ordered, though, the configurator was in the process of changing over. I'll have to ask my MA.

Ok. So I am now really confused . I called mini last week and was told I have a build date of week 27. Today, I receive a call from my MA and was told that my built started today at 8:30. According to the website and build number, I am going to buy a MY 2015 and those don't begin rolling out until next week. Right? Am I missing something here?

There are 185 MY2015 builds that have started this week. People are reporting their builds are completing July 1 and later. My 2015 build is in process scheduled to be done July 2nd. I've been assured the VIN will show 2015 as the year of the car. For resale purposes, that's all that really matters.

We could order a 2015 but my wife is like a kid before Christmas, I think if we wait any longer she is going to hold her breathe until she turns blue.
I went to the MINI site and rebuilt a 2015 and this time it did not force me to bundle the alarm and PDC/rear camera. This put the 2015 just about $300 more than the 2014 and would have added the Auto Climate to the car.

I think it is really poor for MINI to pull this stunt. In hindsight it doesn't seem like they had any intention of maintaining these bundles. If it weren't for these bundles we would have bought a 2015.

yeah it is really stupid that they did this and then changed it days later.

my wife and I both ordered on sunday and paid the $250 for the armrest. she REALLY wanted the pretty screen instead of the base radio, but the $1250 package seemed too much. since it includes the $250 armrest, it would've only been $500 more for the nicer looking system with more functionality.

i would've liked to have that package for $500 too and i might have added the comfort access if it didn't require some dumb alarm that means nothing to me.

EDIT: just called my dealership and they let me add the media package to her car. they had to do a new order so hopefully it doesn't set hers back too far!

Just called the hotline and mine started production yesterday. I can finally stop thinking about additional options as I'm locked now.

Glad that MINI made the changes in packages as it makes much more sense how they are set now. Too bad a couple people got stuck in the mix, but hopefully all will be enjoying new cars shortly.

I think they realised they lost customers due to this, myself included. I mentioned in another thread I was not shy to let them know why I was leaving MINI and the 'forced' options was a small part of it.

Ultimately, I'm happy with my decision but I am sad to be MINI-less. Shame I couldn't find a new 2013 with all I wanted.

You can probably find a 2014 R56 with what you want and they'll likely cut the price because the F56's are what are selling. That's what I did. I was between a VO F56 and a 2014 JCW Coupe. I went to put a deposit on the F56 bound for CA, but it got hijacked. So I went and bought the Coupe with $2500 off sticker.

I didn't even know there were 2014 R56 hardtops? But either way, I searched all the way to Denver and only found a couple there but they sold a couple of days before I was there visiting friends. Anyway, I'm happy with my Mazda3 for now...

+1 to my dealer, Mini of Escondido. They came through and did the right thing in regards to my alarm I couldn't remove from the build.

My build is underway, as of today I've got a VIN -- all is well in the Mini world today!

MINI never produced a 2014 R56 Hardtop. I believe that TheBigNewt is referring to "leftover 2013" R56 models. He bought a 2014 R58 John Cooper Works Coupe.

R56 Hardtops ended with the 2013 Model Year.

Just to clarify.

Ok, that's what I thought.

I think maybe he meant to look at remaining 2014's of other models since I couldn't find a 2013 R56 with what I wanted. Oh well, hopefully I'll be back with gen 4.

Yeah what he said. Since the non hatchback 2014 models (Coupe, Clubman, etc) came out way before the F56 you can probably get a deal on those in stock now like I did. I doubt many leftover 2013s are out there they were fire saleing those. Sorry for the confusion.

And this is exactly what we did. Today we went to talk to our MA and we ordered a 2015 and they will take the 2014. We got the exact same config except we added the LED Fog Lights. Yes it was a bit more but the base also added the Auto Climate and the car will be a 2015 vice a 2014 so we will save about $2,500 in depreciation when we sell it. So we wait a few more weeks but it will be worth it.

MINI was pretty stupid for doing these bundles. Created a lot of bad will and in the end they un-did them. At least they made the right decision in the end.

I'm in some kind of limbo-land hell on mine. I did have a production slot, but don't have one anymore. It's complicated, but basically I'm having to reorder all over again because in the confusion between 2015 and 2014 models, changes in packages and configurator, and a new dealer handling it all, a mistake was made. Part of me said to take the car with the mistake, but I eventually decided not to. Trouble is, we've (dealer and I) have been trying to reorder for the last 3 days, and the site's not working. Arrrgh.

I suppose I'll have my car by December...maybe.

It was a whole lot less complicated last time around, and I was ordering blind, with no cars in the U.S.
