Exactly. They are bleeding out hence the weeping.

In all seriousness it's a horrible situation in Africa and I don mean to make light if it.

True, and I don't either. Poor choice of words on my part.

Thanks for chiming in. I call BS on the "only use BMW wiper fluid"-thing. Sounds like a dealer value-added service trick. Just like "Mini approved tires, batteries, etc.". There are some fluids where using OEM really does matter in many vehicles: Auto tranny fluid and coolant, for example. But wiper fluid is wiper fluid. You have a plastic tank, plastic pumps, and plastic lines. There is nothing the fluid can attack.

Also, that white crap is most definitely fluid residue. I can say that because I get it on the cargo hatch window as well as "bathtub rings" where it puddles up in the plastic windshield cowl. Going to change this stuff out ASAP.

Think the residue might be the wax, and it gets in the washer jet, they put on in shipping over the ocean in transport. I know they are using more plastic white coverings in certain areas then others.

I wonder... I would look to see if possibly there is some sort of blockage in the nozzle, causing the pressure to slowly bleed off. (The washer pump builds pressure and the washer nozzle backs up the pressure, so after the pump is off there is residual pressure remaining in the line causing the nozzle to weep until the pressure is expelled.)

I would use a straight pin and insert it into the nozzle openings and slowly rotate the nozzle ball(s) and then reset them (this is how you adjust the nozzle spray). Additionally I would disconnect the feeder hose and test the pump to observe the pressure at the hose end. Is the flow appear to be unrestricted? Does the fluid continue after the pump is inactive? Reconnect the hose and test again from nozzle.

Sometimes adding a service loop of hose helps. I'm sure the Service Tech can figure this out...

Good Luck.

Motor on!

All I know is that it happens when it gets hot. The fluid is expanding in the line. Since the fluid can't flow back to the reservoir it has to escape somewhere. It seems that the passenger side is so short that not enough expansion happens. This is all theory on my part though.

I'm somewhat aggravated that the dealer stated that nothing is wrong with the wiper nozzle and it works as designed. I sent pictures of the drool to the SA and didn't get a response. To top it off what's with that horrible washer fluid? What the h311 is it, stripease?

If so, won't this be more of a problem in areas that have freezes?

I'm tempted to disconnect my nozzles altogether. I never use them.

I also wonder how much this issue contributes to MINI's reputation for poor quality, lol. It's been happening literally since 2002 and they've never fixed it. It's hard to imagine just how many service visits they've had on just this issue alone.

True, and it's not exactly rocket science. Every car on the road has 'em.

Well... I don't mean to sound cynical, but if MINI hasn't yet performed a recall, or at least notified drivers of the potential for their cars to stall, I find it completely understandable for them not to take action on these weeping wiper ducts.

What kind of wiper fluid is this. It's milky and caulk. The photo is AFTER cleaning.

Did a bird take a huge dump on your back window? That could cause similar remnants.

I found that my nozzle had leaked 2 weeks ago... It only happened one time so far and it was during a very sunny and hot day. I have an appointment next week to get it fixed.

It's not my car, mine hasn't leaked yet, but I saw this in the parking lot at work. First other new Mini I've seen up close, and what's the first thing I see but a weeping duct. Wow, that fluid does look disgusting! It's ruining that stripe too. What is this stuff??

I had the "fix" a while back and it didn't work. In fact, mine leaked worse after it was fixed. I took the car in Saturday and had the dealer drain all the wiper fluid out. When, and if, Mini ever figures out how to fix this I will have them fill it back up. I may do it anyway when the weather cools off. Service guy says any damage it causes is, of course, covered by warranty and was kind of hesitant to drain it. I'm just really not interested in dealing with this drip every single day or new stripes and paint.

Had the dealer replace my driver's side w/s washer jet today under warranty. Appears to be fixed for now, although my leaking problem was not very serious. I'll keep an eye on it.

They replaced it completely? Is this the current fix? Ive had a check valve put in, but it didnt work so I just had them drain all the fluid. If replacement is the new thing, I will have them do this when I take it in for the airbag recall and 1st oil change.

I am not 100% sure what they did; BUT the work order says "replaced driver's side windshield washer jet", and the parts used list shows "spray nozzle, part #61-66-7-330-654". Since it is warranty, no values are shown either the part nor the labor.

I am due to take delivery of my new MINI Cooper on Monday. I emailed the dealer requesting they check the washers before delivery and they informed me that there was a factory 'fix' put in place from April for this issue. Hopefully I won't have this issue.

I got my mini at the end of July (build process started in June) and I had the issue... So I guess their factory "fix" isn't working! Hopefully yours will be ok!
