Anyone know of a cable that is sold that plugs into the propitiatory BMW / Mini arm rest connection port and offers up a standard USB connection.

Buying a IPOD/IPHONE cradle for $300 just does not make sense, wish they had offered a USB port in the arm rest - as all Androids and IPods and Iphone can adapt to that easily and cheaply.

In the meantime - snaking the USB cable from forward (dash USB Port) to the rear (between the seats) into the arm rest....and really enjoying the new MCS!

 

Yea..I cannot see spending that kind of $$$$ on that cradle so the wife is using the usb port. Works the same just not hidden. Maybe I will get a longer cord and snake it to the armrest.

 

I posted a tread where I pulled my armrest out of the car. There are 3 separate cables. 2 look to be antennas. Not sure if the front USB connector will hook into these ( I doubt it). that expensive cable may massively reduce the amount of radiation you are subjected to by using the exterior antenna - probably improve reception too!
If it does in fact do this and you don't die from a brain tumor as a result - maybe it is worth the $300 :-) (devils advocate)
