Ok, i'm getting into the weeds here, but i the mini website doesn't do a good job of telling you why you would want anything but the standard floormats. Does anyone have any opinions on these options? Thanks.
All-weather is the way to go if you live near the beach, do any hiking, skiing, etc. I love the all-weather mats because I can just hose them off. My mats would be ruined by now if I had kept the standard ones.
p.s. I've gotten the dealer to throw in the all-weather mats for free on my past 2 MINIs. Can't hurt to ask.

Have Weathertechs in my current ride (MINI sells rebadged Weathertechs for older MINIS). Thinking about getting them again for my F56 when it arrives (not available from WeatherTech yet). They aren't pretty but they are eminently practical, and don't wear out!

A little tip from Canada if you live with snow.
Remove the accelerator peddle from the floor before winter. It simply unscrews with one screw under that plastic cap. You can actually unplug it by the way -no cables these days!
Stick a piece of thin plastic sheet under and around about 4" (I use a 10" square). Screw the peddle back on top.
This stops the salt from getting into the carpet around the peddle. It is quite a job to clean it after the fact and looks terrible.

I got the rubber mats from Mini Sewell for around $55 plus shipping. I live in California and don't have fabric floor mats in any of my cars. Easy to clean and when it's time to sell I just put the unused fabric mats back in.

Thanks! That's a good thought. My current car the base carpet is absolutely destroyed around the pedals thanks to salt. I hope I remember to do this for my mini =)Originally Posted by GregoryK

I've got the MINI rubber mats. They are ok, waiting on a better aftermarket mat to come along that has a better fit around the gas pedal and sides. Maybe a deeper mat.

I'll second that, great idea. This is the only area of my 06' that shows any wear and it is ugly...
Back to the original question. If you will only have one set of mats, get the rubber ones. They last a LONG time, easy to clean, and look pretty good. I'm planning two sets for my new car, one set of the rubber mats for fall and winter, then getting a decent set (maybe cocomats) for the time when it's nice in the area.

Cocomats are the best mats you can get bar none. They're not cheap ($150 for the front pair). No knockoffs. They make yours after you order so it takes a couple weeks. Check out the color options, they're awesome. I bought the standard dealer carpet ones and used them for 3 weeks. Waste of $100.

I've looked at those mats online, but was concerned about the durability. How well have yours held up? I tend to wear holes through my mats.Originally Posted by TheBigNewt

Fortunately, I don't have to deal with snow or slush and a little beach sand isn't much of a problem, so I'm glad not to need plastic mats. Could make the car a bit quieter, too.
I've had coco mats in my old 71 VW - they were indestructible and always looked decent.

It's Monday and my mats are in the car. They (cocomats.com) will send one more to go in the "well" in the boot/trunk.Originally Posted by torpeau

I'm going to get the Cocomats wool mats. I like their comment about the plushness while driving barefoot.

A lot depends on where you live and what type of weather you drive in. Example: I don't drive in snow, ice or slush and I have no need for anything 'heavy-duty'. Standard floor mats work just fine for me. If I ever have to replace them I do like the looks of coco mats.

Thanks for the pic -- I was considering the black/red to add a bit of color to my TG with all-black interior but now I'm thinking maybe black/blue or stay monochrome with grey/lt gray. May send for swatches...Originally Posted by torpeau

Lots of snow and slush around here in the winter, so I swap the standard carpet mats for the rubber MINI ones when I change over to snow tyres in October/November, and back to carpet mats in April when the summer tyres go back on. We don't go to the beach in my car, so this isn't a problem for the carpet ones.

I've always had the rubber all-weather, and I LOVE THEM. Got the dealer to throw them in both times, too........I also think they look nice...

I'll agree with the previous posters who mentioned the official MINI all-weather mats. They look great and appear to be made of decent quality material. The buckle with the emblem on it really adds to the look.
