Question about DRLs

Do the F56's DRLs come on automatically, regardless of trim/specs and whenever the car is running, or must they be selected via the lighting switch? I guess my question is targeted towards U.S.-spec models only (not Canadian or UK).

In my current car, I always drive with headlamps set to "on", even though I have auto-headlamps. They switch off automatically, regardless. I've never had true DRLs, but in many other cars with LED "eyebrows", although they were designed as DRL's, in the US, they're sometimes just decorative features that run with the headlamps, and are not true always-on DRLs. So, I'm wondering which the F56's are in the US market.

If the F56's are true DRLs, I might finally be able to use my auto-headlamps as they were meant to work: automatically.

I have standard halogens with auto headlights and when my head lights go off the DRLs come on. That is if the DRL setting is set to on of course.

I believe my LED Headlights do this:
1. ON = DRL horse shoe less bright + half of top fog-light bulb turns on.
2. OFF = DRL horse shoe is on and bright.

So with halogen, it is possible to disable (turn off) DRLs altogether?

can DRL's on Canadian F56's with halogen headlights be turned off without software? Using the car's menu?

I have not seen an option for that.

You would have to use NCS expert or have the dealership turn them off, but in Canada thinks its mandatory part of your DOT .

To reiterate; the US cars have a menu choice as to use DRLs or not. I now use mine but I didn't at first.
