Fit & Finish

What's the opinion of how well things were put together on our F56s?

I've only noticed two things that are a bit off. The driver's door squeaks sometimes when I go over a bump -- needs to be tightened. The gap on the right side of the hatch is a bit bigger than the left where it meets the quarter panel.

Otherwise, I think they did a pretty good job.

So far so good with mine (knocking on wood). No creaks or squeaks and all the panels, interior and exterior appear to be lined up very well.

Small rattle near the tweeter drivers side. Popped it with my open palm, stopped and didn't return, but it has only been a week. Very pleased with the car.

Driver wind noise louder than expected.
New to mini, sometimes when I turn the wheel and go back to the center, I hear And feel a slight click, is that normal?

Did they change the sport seat? Seems like it is missing the **** for back hard/soft pressure. I swear the std and sport had a different # of settings in the config. Maybe it is for the leather one?

Wind Noise

I've noticed the wind noise as well. Thought I had a rattle in the right rear seat area. When I closed the drivers window to listen closer, it disappeared. I opened the window again and it came back. I popped the the roof panel up and it went away. I guess it's just the way the wind moves around inside the cabin as there's nothing loose back there.

Back to the gaps around the hatch on my MCS, the right side is worse than the left, but I'm surprised they didn't catch before it was shipped.

I also have some squeaks I'm going to have to track down.

torpeau, imho, I would go back to the dealer and note that the rear hatch is unacceptable, noticeable, and it does not meet your satisfaction nor do you believe it should have ever made it out of the plant. They should replace the hatch with a replacement. It may take a while to get resolved, but keep us posted on what the dealer says. Good luck and sorry you have to experience this on your new MINI!!

I'm guessing that the hatch isn't the problem, it's the opening that is too big. Will have the dealer look at it, but...

No issues whatsoever here. This one is built way way better than any of my prior MINIs

I don't own one but did get a drive in a demo car a few weeks ago, F56 is noght and day better screwed together than any of the MINI's I've owned, they will only get better as well. The quality of the interior is finally fitting for the price BMW charge, it's no longer 90's era Hyundai like in feel.

for the f56 and r56 the lumbar only comes on the leather seats, not sure about the partial cloth seats, but definitely not available with the leatherette

It's not available on the Black Pearl seats either, unless I've somehow missed it

I've noticed that if you pop the trunk using the button in the front and you slam your door when exiting, the trunk might re-lock itself with the vibration.

Any luck hunting down those squeaks? I have been trying to hunt down some squeaks/rattles too. Maybe we can team up :p

The biggest squeak comes from the driver's door when I go over a bump -- dealer can probably tighten the door. Small squeaks from the dash and passenger seat that I can live with. Our 2014 Mazda CX-5 seems more solid.

The gaps around the hatch are disappointing, but I guess they don't cause any real problem. Will point out to dealer, but I imagine they'll just shrug their shoulders.

My dealer just ordered a new tach for me, they will be replacing it because of some internal vibration. I also have some noise coming from the door. I asked the dealer the look at it last time, but no luck. I'm going to continue my own investigation. I will keep you posted.

Two areas I have noticed on two different MCS
1. Chrome piece on driver door handle kept popping off on showroom floor.
2. Rear bumper passenger side square plastic cover - keeps popping open.

Not a huge deal - all easy to pop back in.

Wanted to follow up on this, because I did miss it. There is lumbar support on the Black Pearl seats. Or at least I assume that's what it is. There's a **** on the right side upper bolster of the drivers seat)
