The result depends on the angle of polarization in the lens. Which brand of sunglasses?

HUD Polarization Visibility Fix

The HUD on my 2015 MINI is blacked out when I wear my polarized sun glasses. I found a solution! Is anyone else still having problems? If so, I could write it up and post it.

Post it, please. I'm sure even those who aren't having issues would be interested.

Don't raise your arm.

I have HORRIBLE Astigmatism and have to wear polarized sunglasses to help with cutting out extra glare. Can the HUD be turned off to only be able to used at night?

Yes, there is a switch to raise and lower the hud. FWIW, I wear polarized glasses and am able to see the HUD. Yes, I'm only seeing about 50% of the brightness, but I am still able to read the display.

Double gradient tint lenses work almost as well as polarized for blocking light from the bottom and top but might let you see most HUD through the center - just thought I would pass this along, anyone want to verify this info? I have used them looking at LCD and they seemed to work where polarized nearly blanked the whole display. Also useful for skiing where polarized lenses distort depth perception to where it is hard to discriminate between snow surface types and especially mogul depths.

I can also see the HUD with my polarized sunglasses but liek you about 50% brightness. If I tilt my head slightly it gets brighter. Like another poster I keep a non-polarized pair in the car if I really want to see the HUD at full brightness.

Overall the benefit of the HUD far outweighs the issue with the sunglasses.
