Oh believe me, I hear ya. I had my heart set on Chili Red for more than 2 years. For several months I would visit the lot and look at the BR F56, determined to try to like BR, but every time I walked away angry. Truly angry. The worst day was when they had the BR parked next to a CR.

Funny thing happened though - I grew to actually like BR. The other day I was walking out to it in a parking lot and honestly said to myself, "It's red enough." Now that it's mine, I can say I really like the BR and glad I got it. It's been a process though and my family could tell you of my seemingly irrational level of irritation with the lack of CR.

Bottom line: I wanted red. BR is the red that is offered. Take it or leave it. I took - and am very glad I did. I love my car.

AMEN! Dumbest mistake MINI ever made! I planned to order CR--but couldn't. Decided to order a bright blue, like the peacock blues of past--but couldn't. Decided to order a traditional silver--but couldn't. Color choices are bad this year, and I almost didn't order at all. Seriously.

Word from my dealer is Volcanic Orange spec cars aren't selling--they're willing to make some great deals if you don't want to wait for an ordered car. They had 3 '14s on the lot when a truck rolled in bearing 3 '15s. They weren't happy.

I am glad to hear that BR is working for you. I am really started to love my car. It was little overwhelming all the electronic. And the delay but I am very happy with the car.

I had the same thoughts exactly. I was used to the I-Drive in BMWs, and that helped, but it's a much more electronic car than the previous one, and that seemed to be the only thing that MINI ever advertised. I guess it's to draw in the young folks. Those of us of Social Security age, not so much. Funny thing is, I'm a member of several car clubs--MINI and otherwise--and virtually all of us are in the post-children years.

My neighbor has a red Buick--a gorgeous bright metallic red. I would have ordered that color in a flash had it been available. Blazing Red always looks a bit orange to me, and after the pure red of CR, I just couldn't pull the trigger. Glad it's working for you, Becky!

jetmechinnc--I guess great minds think alike! I don't know where you are, but this has been on the drawing board for about 3 1/2 months now...I really didn't copy yours. As a matter of fact, I was really sweating it when Scotland had their secession vote, because the Union Jack would have been redesigned.

Where ARE you, anyway?
Great look! Very nice total package on your new Cooper! I'm in North Carolina between Winston Salem and Greensboro. I had a race shop in High Point that mainly does nascar and other race team's designs make the graphics. Wanted something different than a Mini Challenge race car look since that was what my 2010 S was. Very happy with the result, espeacially how they used the back of the car around the tail lights.

That was the hardest part - the orange-ish, rusty color rather than pure red. But it is not as noticeable when it's nowhere near a CR. I see mostly red red now. Perhaps it's the "eye of the beholder" and seeing what ya want to see.

I have BR and I originally didn't love it. Every time I walk out to my car in different light it looks a little different and has really grown on me. I now love the color. Other people think it looks great as well in person. I don't feel that pictures do the color justice

Can't go wrong with BRG, but I'm a big fan of BR too. Then again I could never bring myself to like CR (despite owning 2 MINIs in that color, don't even ask).

More than "eye of the beholder," it's the type of light it's viewed under. When the skies are gray, the tiny bit of yellow in BR makes my MCS looks much more orangey.

Still, it was the only red available and probably a very safe color for a small car. I didn't want my car to be too stealthy.

"Eye of the beholder" is referring to my eye. I tend to see mostly red now, likely because I want to see red. Agree about the orange and I absolutely hated the orange look, especially when anywhere near a CR.

So the question in my mind is--why did MINI kill CR, unless you buy a JCW? And another question--why not a red that goes toward blue, rather than orange? My neighbor's Buick is gorgeous! In the absence of a CR, I would have bought his color (not the car!) in a flash.

Just took a look at the blazing red. Seemed fine until I noticed the chilli red R56 behind it. Have to agree that their red has gone downhill.

Yeah, and now you can't unsee that. Seems like they are taunting to put the CR and BR in the same field of vision.

(This is a dark place - I can't go back there.... I love my BR, I love my BR, I love my BR) I really do, actually.

I'd call it Blue Meanie but I got the HK sound option.

I like the blue and white look, but something about mine being blue all over looks very nice.

That is gorgeous, but I'm a bit biased...that's exactly my car. Except mine is currently waiting for a boat to bring him over.

Last weekend, we had a nice Autumn day here in Québec, QC, Canada and I took my brand new 2015 MCS out for a photo session.

Pictures are here on my Flickr account:

Nothing prettier than Quebec in fall--and now you have a car to match!

It's official! Misty (may change the spelling to Mysty lol) arrived today! Ordered 6/28/2014 and delivered 10/22/2014. The whole transaction went smoothly and I am so excited to spend my four days off learning all the technology in this car being that I just about added every option. Thank you all so much for your support during this long wait!!! Here are some random photos I took and man am I in love with the color :-)

Okay, I think I might go with BRG with white stripes/roof/mirror. Now to think about getting a clear bra. I'm looking at the coverage for the hood, and would getting the whole hood done be overkill? How much is enough? And can I get the stripe decals put over or under the clear bra?

Then, it's time to think of a name, accessories, and to get a raise at work so I can order the darn thing.

I think the color is "Invisible." Photos didn't load...
