I am new to the MINI experience and have just ordered an F56 hardtop in Volcanic Orange with black top and mirrors with white stripes. After ordering it I have noticed that the trunk lid grip is white silver instead of being body color or black. I asked the dealer and they advised I can order a primed replacement part ($125) and have it painted at the bodyshop ($150). I was wondering if anyone else knows of any other options.

 

On the web it shows it many ways.
It is probably plastic.
Sand it
Tape it off
Spray it black to match your roof.

I believe the 3 cylinder is chrome/ silver and the "S" is black. Could probably just order a black one after you get the car.

 

Aside from CHROM (chrome) RealOEM lists the color choices of SCHIEFERGRAU (slate grey) for the Cooper S and ALU (aluminum) for the Cooper.

 

On my Thunder Gray that I ordered it shows it in black....it better be black.

 

I believe black is standard on the "S" but not on the base.

On the Canadian MINI site, it shows the S trunk grip as black, the non-S as silver. I have no reason to think they would not come that way.
