Navigation System

Anyone know if the Nav system is still (I think it is) DVD based. If so how do you update - Pay more money and buy a new DVD?

DVD Nav systems are long obsolete. BMW switched to flash memory years ago and MINI followed in 2011. Updates are through USB flash drive.

Must have armrest.

Worst part about the Navigation? You must buy it with the armrest. It's all part of the package. If you're short, that's not a problem, but we're over 6' tall, and our arms kept hitting the armrest. Whether in up or down position.

So that's the stupid thing with Nav. I guess they tie it in with the phone port inside the armrest...all part of the wiring system. But we wanted neither the phone port or armrest. Were told too bad, we had to have all or none.

Sadly, no Nav system for us.

You obviously have not been following GregoryK's thread with just taking the armrest out of his car

I'm fine with my armrest, fortunately, but Gregory's write-up on how to remove the armrest was a good one. Now you can have your cake and eat it, too, if the armrest is a bother with your navigation system.
