Test drove an S with those seats yesterday.
The fabric is a little darker than the pic and has very defined texture.
Rough? A little more abrasive than any fabric I've encountered, my lady
loves them.
We will order them.
The bolsters are substantial, I weigh 220 and fit snugly.

Took my wife to go play with the new F56s today.

She hated the cloth/leatherette seats in person, thought they were too rough and ugly

Yep, after seeing them in person last weekend I would say that photo is extremely accurate. I fell in love with them instantly.

In the pictures they do look really, really nice. Not sure if I would have paid the extra $750 when I placed my MCS order weeks ago, but I would have thought about it if I'd seen the pictures then.

Never a problem w/ leatherette with me. I know I'll be pleased with my seats when my MCS arrives..

Yeah I mean it's a complete fluff item, but I think the price point is right on. Leather has always seemed ridiculously frivolous for the price for MINIs, but $750 for this seems just right. It's either the exact same or very similar material to what they used in the i3. It feels like tweed and the leatherette bolsters with white stitching matches it really well.

P.S. The new base model Mini has rev matching technology

It's a little slower than I'd like, but it still works. My wife liked it since she isn't the best at rev matching or heel-toeing.

gtmotor, you are the third to review the rev-matching feature on this forum. The other impressions were:

"fast"
"can't tell if fast or slow due to no other prior experiences in other cars"

When you say the rev-matching feature on the manual tranny is slower than you would like, what other cars have you driven with the system? 370Z? Cayman? Etc.?

How much slower is it than the other systems you have tried?
