Just to replace engine oil filter

Hi, i would like to just replace engine oil filter on F57. Will there be any concern around it?
Does anyone know how much engine oil i would lose during this filter replacement?

Background story: i've been changing my MINI's engine oil and filter more than 10+ yrs. (ever since R56 era and now i have F57 and F60).
After i drained old oil and popped out the old oil filter, then i realized i ordered a newer version of oil filter and it doesn't fit.
So i just put the old filter back and put new oil in.
Since the oil filter is located a bit above the oil pan, i'm expecting not much of oil coming out of the filter side while i'm replacing it. But i always drain old oil from the oil plug so i'm not sure how much i'm going to lose and what other things might happen while i'm replacing the oil filter only.

Thank you in advance for your help and comments.

You should be fine just letting the old filter hang out until your next oil change.

If you really don't want to wait, the 3rd gen engine has an oil drain plug on the filter body. Measure what gets drained out, then add that same amount back in. I can't imagine it will be more than a quart.

Thank you for your comment.
That's what i was thinking. (losing around or less a quart from it)
I'd rather change the filter now. i've been babying my MINI and don't want to take a risk.

And i don't like that drain plug on the filter cap. One time, the seal from the plastic drain plug busted and leaked oil from it.
(don't understand why they needed to have it there in the first place.)

FYI I ran into someone recently with a MY2019 MINI that had the B4xC engine, and therefore needed the "2020+" part. Folks in that timeframe definitely need to do their research. Brick & mortar auto parts store didn't know any better in that person's case, so there's some funky info out there in all the automated systems...

Thank you for the part numbers. i've learned in in a hard way.
Good thing is i have both F57 (2016) and F60 (2020). So i can use the new one to the next F60 oil change.

If you buy a OEM MINI filter it comes with the crush washer for the oil pan drain plug, o-ring for the oil filter cap and new oil filter cap drain plug. The oil filter cap gets torqued to I believe 25nm and the cao drain plug I believe is 5nm. Your best to have a torque wrench for tightening these.

Thank you sgscomps. Again, i've been changing oil/oil filter many years for my MINIs. And for the filter cap drain plug and filter cap torque, they are written on the plastic filter cap.
I always change the crush washer and O-ring for the filter cap too.
