hugging on start

my ‘19 F57 has had what I believe is a widespread issue. after starting, if you shift into gear within about 15 seconds, the MINI chugs, lurches and even stalls. from the beginning, my dealer said this is common, with no known cause or fix. When I recently returned to the dealer they said there is a fix….a fuel rail sensor and software update. while i think this is clearly a design flaw, and should be absorbed by Mini, i am waiting for them to confirm this is my problem and any cost to repair. i hope this will be helpful to others.

Interesting. My '17 F56S does this. I think I've only stalled it (or near-stalled it) once, but I noticed the general pattern long ago.

Thanks for confirming I'm not imagining things

Mini did replace my fuel sensor and did a software update. they also absorbed part of the cost since i’ve been having this problem almost from the beginning. My Mini is running perfectly now. Actually, better than new!!!
