2016 F57 Fuel Breather Valve - P0440 and P0171 Codes

Greetings!

Our 2016 Mini F57 MC just tripped a P0440 (Evap Emissioins System) and P0171 (Bank 1 System Too Lean) code. Symptoms at the time of the codes were increased idle to 1500-2000 rpms at idle back down to below 1000 with a slightly rough idle feel. Research indicates that this is most likely a Fuel Breather Valve as seen here on ECS tuning.https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/13907621174/ FWIW, in order to help troubleshoot the issue, I tightened the fuel cap AND added 1 16ox. can of SeaFoam. Still waiting to see if that corrects the rough idle issue but I have my doubts.

I would like to replace the Fuel Breather Valve considering this has been an issue in other Minis and BMW's.

QUESTION: Can anyone give me some tips on how to remove the push pull clamps on this breather valve? Attached is a photo of the valve itself as it is located on the vehicle.

Mini Fuel Breather Valve. Located under cover in front of engine.

On the right side you'll need to squeeze the round (ring) right next to the hose on the open spots(top and bottom)
On the left side squeeze right past the square piece on the tabs.
When enough pressure is applied they just slide off the sensor. Then one electrical connector to take off. For that.
Pull the grey/white safety tab straight out. Maybe a 16th of an inch or so. Then squeeze that same clip and you should see the rest of the clip pop up. The pull apart.

Extended Warranty on Fuel Vent Valve 10 year/120K

Just an fyi for those that may experience a similar problem with their fuel vent valves, just as I was purchasing a new vent valve at ECS Tuning (at their customer counter), my Mini Dealer in Ohio calls me back to let me know that this valve is covered under an extended warranty by Mini. I actually had my hood up ready to replace the valve myself with the instructions provided by @Mr Meowgi . Decided to save the $100 and drive it in to Mini next week for the free valve. Those that may have paid for this repair on their own should received reimbursement from Mini. Read the attached PDF document for details.

Regards,

Regards,
thank you for the notice I do believe I'm needing one myself so that is a wonderful thing to hear
Edit. Looking at the ISTA notice this does not include my f55 with 2014 production date. Crap. Oh well glad you got your issue solved.

this or replacing the gas cap for the two easiest solutions to the problem other than that you have to go under the car and look at the rest of the tubing and evap monitor
