Angry Engine Squeal 2015 JCW

Hi all!

I've had my Mini JCW for a little under 2 months now. It's done 1750miles. It was built in August 2015.

Usually I do only short journeys, due to a change in nature of business I've been doing some long journeys recently, on every single one of my long journeys(2hrs+) I get a squeal eventually that comes from the engine bay.

It's through 1st to 4th gear between 3k RPM and 4k RPM. Very annoying and very loud - AND EMBARRASSING!!

It's exactly like I've seen in other threads but the difference is this car was not built in 2014 like all the others & I would assume they fixed the quality issues from last year (crankshaft)?

It's annoying that I've paid £32k for this car and in under 2 months I get these issues.

Was just wondering if anyone had an answer for what is going wrong?
It's booked into the dealer for next week although I gotta feeling its going to go around in circles as they won't be able to reproduce the symptoms as it only happens on long drives

Here's a video that my sounds exactly like:http://rocspocs.tumblr.com/post/1207...i-engine-sound

Any ideas??

Wow. You would have to ask the question..what is the thing that gets hotter after 2 hours? and is not after an hour...?
Can't tell from the clip but is it like a slipping belt sound? In my limited experience anything oil related would be at full temperature after 20 minutes. Maybe a blow off valve....

Hmmm exactly....I can't put my finger on it either. I'm not a mechanic by any means but I have a fair bit of knowledge about cars! Definitely wasn't a belt slipping... I'm thinking something to do with transmission.. Although that's a guess!

Again it does also sound like a vacuum leak or air leak. But the car drives perfectly.

MINI called earlier and confirmed the booking for next Thursday. Doubt they'll come back with anything though!

Call dealer, tell them that it happens after a long drive and try to arrange that they test drive it with you after you've already been driving for and hour or more. Then don't stop the car or let them out until you hear it. Kidnapping is legit in these circumstances.

It's going in next week but on the weekend I'll take it for a long drive just to see if it happens once more and I'll take a lot of recordings this time!

Drives perfect otherwise - very confusing.

Take the scenic route to the dealer
Make tech and service guy run out to your car
Take them for a short drive

Not sure if you are going to get a reply on a 3 year old thread.
