PDC and active cruise control sensor error

I've had 3 issues so far. The first was when I was driving along at 45 mph and I got a error saying there was something very close to my front left bumper. It only happened for a few seconds but scared the crap out of me. The second was when I was stopped at a red light with nothing in front of me. The collision warning and pedestrian warning both turned off and it said to contact the service department. The third was while I was driving to the dealership to have these errors looked at. I was driving with adaptive cruise control with nothing in front of me for at least a half mile and it suddenly slowed down saying there was something in front of me. The service department is telling me that there is nothing wrong. Has anyone else had problems with these sensors?

Did you figure out what the errors mean? I got the one saying that the collision and pedestrian warning system was not active and it hasn't come back on. I just picked my car up in Friday -2016 JCW - and it happened on the way home 😤😤😤

According to MINI, the errors were all environmentally caused and normal operation. The proximity warning I think was caused by hitting a puddle and splashing water up. The cruise control error was caused by the sun shining directly into the camera. The collision and pedestrian errors was cause by the camera overheating on a really hot day. Was it really hot and right after you started driving when you got the error? I don't know why yours hasn't come back on though. Mine restarted after restarting the car the next time. What happens when you press the button next to the hazard lights (I can't remember the name of it)? Might need to take it in if it won't come back on. Hope it works out for you. Let me know if you get any more information from the dealer.

Thanks. I'll check the button. Every time I start the car I get the error. It is always hot in FL. If I can't get it to come back on I guess I'll have to take it in.

Funny you should ask, I just picked it up today from the dealership. The camera had to be replaced. Mine wouldn't work at all not even sporadically.

Glad you got it fixed. Did you go back to Tampa or get it fixed at Tom Bush?

Tom Bush. I never had a problem with their service dept. Everyone always does and awesome job in their service dept. I've been going there since 2009.

Have you had any more problems since you had your camera replaced? My park assist is giving me troubles now. It's been turning on by itself when I come to a stop. Not every time and it's sporadic but super annoying when driving in traffic.

Park Assist/PDC goes off the front radar sensors, not the camera. The reason your PDC is turning on is probably because you have Auto PDC turned on, which will turn on the parking sensors automatically when you go slow enough. To turn Auto PDC off, go into Settings, then Parking.

If you ever DO need to turn on the front sensors, you can just toggle the PDC switch (far left switch on the center console)

I know the park assist doesn't use the camera but it's all integrated. I was just asking Maytulip if she has had any more problems since her camera was replaced. I've had multiple strange things happen. I've been through the settings before and don't remember seeing auto PDC but I'll check again later. I don't think that is it though. It shouldn't try to parallel park when I'm sitting in traffic. And that's not the PDC switch on the left center console. That's the park assist switch.

It's not triggering park assist, it's triggering the front parking sensors. The idea being, it think you're trying to park and will warn you if you get too close to a car in front of you or a wall. It is designed to automatically turn on when you drop to a certain speed.

The switch will trigger park assist, yes, but it also manually turns on (or off) the parking sensors.

Source: I have Park Assist on my MINI. I turned Auto PDC off because it came on when I didn't want it to more than when I did want it to. Steep driveways, drive thrus, stop and go traffic...

No. The park assist is turning on by itself. The light on the park assist switch is turning on and it shows a big P on the screen where it's possible to parallel park.
