Pre-LCI tail lights - swapping the brake and turn signal positions

So I have a 2016 Clubman and the one thing that's always bothered me is the position of the brake lights - being in the bumper instead of on the doors. Knowing that with the LCI tail lights the brake lights are now in the doors, I was wondering if there's a way to swap positions on my lights - make the turn signal lights work as the brake lights and make the bumper turn signal lights function all of the time and not just when the doors are open?

By wiring or coding?
I'd be interested as well, although I feel like my easy way out is with the Bimmercode app and the solutions I've read about to activate the rear fogs on the door lights.

Do the flag style lights have elements that are activated with the brakes with that solution?

Just use coding. You can use bimmercode to code it.
For LCI F54, you also can code brake lights and turn signal lights on bumper.

Nice! I like that. I also like that it can be done fully with coding and no hard wire changes.

Hi all, I know this is an old post, but the link maaii so kindly did does not work in the UK since September 2025.
Is there a way for me to access it ? I would really like to code my rear bumper lights to work as additional brake lights

Thanks in advance

Just saw your post. Using my VPN, I checked that the link indeed does not work in the UK but does in France and the USA.

Here are two screenshots that I took of the gif file using my phone. The file shows the blinker alternating between the in and off stages. Note that only the left blinker is working in the video.

Hope this helps. If you want to see the full gif file, use a VPN and point it outside of the UK.
