Took delivery yesterday...NEWB Questions!! Thanks in advance!!

Took delivery of my 2022 Clubman S "classic" yesterday.
I decided to sacrifice a few "wants" to get the color/ appearance/ price that fit the bill at the moment.
I'm a capable moderate level tinkerer, and after reading forums for the last 24 hours, these are my burning questions:

1. Load Floor Base: Luggage Compartment
- Mine was not configured with the load floor option, looks like 51-47-7-360-761 will function as a cover for the empty well, agree??
- Really just looking for the entire rear of the car to be a level surface when the back seats are folded flat (music equipment!)
2. Drop-in air filter
- Looks like BMC in the only option at this point?
- Will eventually pursue CAI
3. I took delivery WITHOUT the NAV/CarPlay options
- Every site I go to reads like they are the best option...looking for simplest approach to add CarPlay, as I use WAZE as my NAV 99% of the time.
- No interest in factory NAV
4. Factory roof side rails.
- Can they be added after the fact? I assume drilling the roof would be necessary?
5. Does anyone bother running nitrogen in run flats?
6. Tow hook license plate mount for the front plate?
- I am in MD and we are required to run front plates. Everything on-line seems a bit model year specific.

Thanks to anyone and everyone in advance who can help with info.
This forum is LOADED!!! Looking forward to continued reading!!

Congrats! For #2, although I went w/ the BMC, ITG and Pipercross make a foam style as well: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-itg-air-...15hmp-954~itg/

If I would have seen the pipercross at the time, I prob would have tried to get it instead: https://www.lohen.co.uk/pipercross-g...nce-air-filter

Appreciate the info MaChefAi!!
ITG or PipeCross will definitely be the decision.

Regarding #3.
2022 without the factory NAV is a deal breaker for CarPlay as well (per Bimmer).
I assumed that would be the case. No desire to swap the head unit to run one APP (WAZE) in CarPlay mode.

I got my adjustable front license plate mount from US Millworks and it is a great product. Give it a look.

I asked a user on here 'dave' when I was looking and this is what he sent to me:
"Now I'm using a US Mill Works kit for the BMW X2 in order to get a long enough mounting bolt for my clubman. I'm also using the "lightened" version for more range of adjustability. The kit for the X2 comes with a quick release. Total cost is $129. FWIW, I'm not using the quick release feature. It all fits fine and does not block the sensors. Kit:Lightened + Quick ReleaseCar:BMW X-Series F39 X2 (2018+) - P12S bolt"

Thank you for this info!! Are you using this X2 kit on a GEN3 F54 Clubman? 3rd Gen grills are definitely interesting when it comes to getting to the tow hook interface.

Yes I am and it fits and works very well. You can tilt it and move the plate to get it between the area of the PDC sensors so it is what you need. You can see I have it tilted so that it isn't sticking out at an odd angle so it follow the angles of the front bumper.

Cheers,
Mas

It is best to get it done at the factory. It is a $250 add-on option. After the fact will be expensive ($,$$$) and you will question whether or not it was done right by a dealer.

>>5. Does anyone bother running nitrogen in run flats?

Costco people seem big on this one. I don't bother with it.

I have a Cravenspeed Platypus tow hook license plate mount. If you have PDC, get the Platypus Extension Arm. Just call them to make sure you get the right item. Made in the USA, and a Lifetime Warranty as well. Check out a pic here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4592349

On #4 I checked with the dealership and they recommended not doing it. They were willing to bring in the parts and put me in contact with the body shop they use. When speaking to them, they were very hesitant to do it as the risks of cracking the roof/paint is possible and would then become even more expensive to fix. They also noted that even if it's slightly off, it could be problematic and there's no room for error here. So it's both expensive and risky.

I think I saw someone in the picture thread with some Thule racks on footpads, which I might look into. However I am concerned about warping the door seal as the clamps have to wrap into the door frame.

Good luck!

Roger that! I am actually a buyer at a ski shop. Thule indeed always has options for cars w/o factory racks. Same concerns as you though, if you leave them on year round it can affect the paint under the feet AND the door seals. Decided to go the stealth hitch route and use hitch mounted bike and ski/snowboard carriers. That also gives me an option to tow my litte basket trailer when I'm hauling brush to the landfill. Thanks!
