F54 Can heated seats be added.
Can heated seats be added.
Sorry to have posted this. Did more research and nobody has mentioned my idea so it must be unworkable. I’d delete the thread if I knew how.
My 2016 Clubman doesn’t have heated seats. I’m wondering if this is just a lack of the switches being installed, and that a dealer could add them. I left a message with my Mini dealer’s service department asking about this but they chose not to call me with a reply. Just bad customer service or don’t know answer or don’t want me to know answer? Anyone here with that kind of knowledge. How about a link to MiniUSA where someone might know or a dealer other than Mini of Portland. Thanks.

Honestly, who knows...
...case in point, my old Mazda Miata had no heated seats, however the vehicle was completely wired for them. All you had to do was replace a piece of dash trim with one that had 'heated seat buttons', and install a seat that had heating elements. All the wiring harnesses between the seat and the car were identical: presto-changeo, heated seats worked in the car.
With MINIs it may very well be the same (except, you will definitely have to code the car to have the buttons work, using ESYS). You might just need the dash piece that has seat heater buttons, a seat with a heating element, and then you just code the car with the heated seat option code. So, it might work. You could be the first to try it ;-). There are a few different sets of used F54 seats on ebay for about $300 per set, all of which have heating elements in them. As for the dash buttons, you could look up the part number on mini of seattle or mini of kennesaw parts, and order it from ecstuning or similar...it MIGHT work, but then again it might not...

ECS makes a kit to add heated seats: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/ES3550998__ES3550995/
Here's a how-to from someone that installed them: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...8-mcs-r56.html
Good luck!

Great info. Clearly beyond the effort I’m willing to do. My wishful thinking was the seats already having the heaters but only needed switches and system programming (installed by someone with experience). I’m impressed with the info others have shared here. Big pat on the back!
Yep, that was the old school Gen 1 MINI era.
