not so hot seats.

Yesterday i went to prestige mini to have rearfogs activated and have my so called heated seats looked at.I have an - 04mcs and the seats never heated very well. They checked and said they found no faults; everything plugged in;all fuses good. But they found a mini service bulletin for seat harnesses to be changed. They special orderd them and next week they install two new harnesses Hope it works. So for all mini people with this issue it's covered with warranty so get it checked out.--bleecker

I thought that my seats should have been heating better too, mine is also an 04 mcs. Please let us know if the new harness helps. Thanks!

My seats get good and hot very quickly, a good thing during the Wisconsin winters.

I too took my car in and the dealer found nothing wrong. Did the new harness help?

harnesses changed?

YES they changed the harness in both seats, but it really just made a slight diference. When i called them back on the still weak heated seats, they said the would then probably have to rip the seats open and take a look.At that point i said i'll think about it, but i was just really tired of the entire situation. I'LL try for round two soon, and maybe even before the winter is over. You pay for something, you want it ot work. thats all for now---bleecker

I have the same issue with my 03. I had the harness changed in both and I think it is just a bit better. I am going to live with it

I have an 05 and my seats are so hot I have to keep turning them on and off. I can't even leave them on low. Maybe they fixed the problem in 05!

my '04 seats (leatherette) seem to work fine- I put them on for about 2 minutes on high, then have to lower them to low.

BTW, you didn't mention what type of seats you have.....maybe the heating efficiency is somewhat dependent on the seat cover material?

Does anyone know if they are sensitive to outside temp at all?

I have an 03 w/heated seats and they seem to heat warmer if it is very cold, rather than say when the ambient temp is like 40F. maybe its just the temp diffrence makes them feel warmer

My 03 seems to be HOT no matter what temperature.. I agree with the earlier post that I have to turn them down after a few minutes. I have space cloth BTW.

I know a few people with '02s and '03s with the space cloth who's seats get VERY hot. Then there are others like myself with '03s-'04s and space cloth who's seats just get warm...

Yet the dealer says all of our seats heat "within specs..."

my 05 with the space cloth seats settings seem to be "nuclear meltdown" and "napalm". I basically turn them on high on cold days for maybe 5 minutes or so. By then the car is warm enough and the seats get turned off before my pants catch fire.

too much crack

hmmm, interesting...um, not the butt crack sweat...(euw) but my heated seats were just fine when I used them in moderate temperatures. The dealer had to remove the driver side seat in order to do work on the door, and since then, I swear that it heats to a higher temp. than it used to. Could be that the temps lately have been a lot lower than previously experienced. Someone mentioned that theirs seems to change with the ambient temperature, yes?
I kinda wonder though about seats that are uncomfortably hot. Is it possible that the heating coils are perhaps under less insulation that someone elses seat that heats to either a comfortable temp. or an unsatisfactory temp.

There is no outside sensor to tell the seat what to warm to.
My seats heat to the same comfy level weather, haha,it is -40F or 32F.
Fake leather seats,I love them:smile:
