How do you remove the bumper tail lights so I can replace the bulbs?

Trying to replace the halogen bulbs with LED ones but cant seem to find how to remove them. I removed that little circle cover on the bumper but have no idea where to put the screwdriver. Is it behind the foam bumper? All my other tail lamps, fog, reverse are all LED now and just need to replace the ones on the bumper.

For those who have halogen tail lamps and want to convert to LED, here is what I bought. Also note, I updated the bulbs to LED and turned cold/warm monitoring off in Bimmercode (in addition to making the rear fog lights to brake lights). Works perfectly with no error or hyperflashing. It is much more crisp bright red light.

Yes, it's accessed from behind that cover, but not straight in -- the screw is upwards and outwards from the opening. It's awkward, but you'll find it with a long enough screwdriver.

BTW, there's a known issue with the bumper-mounted housings. I had to have one of mine replaced under warranty when one of the grounds became flaky.

Sweet! Thanks! I was so confused, i thought it was straight in. I'll give it a shot later this afternoon.

Thanks for the heads up on the grounds. I'll check on it when I take a look.

Got it open! Just wondering, do you happen to know what kind of bulb it is? I thought it was an 1156 but doesn't look like it. The manual said p21w but the connector is also very different. 3157 bulb is the closet it looks like from pictures I've seen online. Still insure what it is though.

Sorry, I don't. I knew how to remove it because in my case, the left outer bulb was misbehaving. I swapped it with the left inner bulb but, no change, which is when I found out that these issues are "a thing" and the dealer happily replaced the housing. But I didn't try to replace the bulbs.

Did you ever figure this out? Manual seems Incorrect. I have a 2020 JCW and was thinking of changing the bumper lights to LED. The manual says p21w but they're not. They look like pw24w but those are single filament?

Nevermind, I took em out to find they are pw24w as written on the bulb. I'm going to leave em, since they only flash when the tailgate is open.
