Putting the F54 on four jack stands

Needed to take all four wheels off to mount up new tires tomorrow (I hate driving to the tire store and letting them do it. Mostly because I hate sitting around and waiting.)

I raced cars for a few decades. I have put dozens of different cars on jack stands, hundreds or thousands of times.

But this F54 Clubman has to be the hardest car I've ever tried to get onto four jack stands and take all four wheels off at the same time. There are no center jacking points that I could find, at least none that looked sturdy enough to use.

So do you jack from the jack points and put the jack stands elsewhere, or vice versa? I ended up using a hybrid.

I googled for info on how people have done it on the F56, thinking it must be similar, but it wasn't. I couldn't really find the front subframe under all the plastic, and I'm not sure that the sill between the stock jack points is sturdy enough to jack from (and it's all covered with plastic too).

In any case, with the use of two floor jacks and a lot of trial and error, it's done. New tires go on tomorrow.

I'll take F54-specific advice for next time. It shouldn't have been half as hard as it was.

Probably similar to the F56 discussion on same topic. As I recall involves some long 2x4s.
Got to ask why you don't want to do one at a time? Just did our Countryman one at a time, more to teach my son. Heck of a lot easier going over to Les Schwab who does it free.

It would have been easier, that's for sure. Or a lift would fix everything.

But I do need to take the wheels and tires to a friend to actually mount 'em up. Didn't want to do THAT one at a time.

Click on the link below then scroll down to "How a stud lifts a MINI".
I've got a pair of studs cut to length I've used dozens of times to get all four corners off the ground at the same time. Works great and it ain't rocket surgery.

Okay, glad to know that works. I've done other cars like that, but on those I could SEE the sill and could gauge its strength. The plastic cover makes me nervous but obviously distributing the weight makes it pretty safe. I will likely try it. I assume I'll be the first to do it with an F54.

I think you need these:

http://jackpointjackstands.com/

Jack car, slide stand into place, lower onto stand, move to next wheel.

Brilliant! Jay doesn't let junk show up on his program and that guy really put it together. But, 4 corners = $600. Piece of scrap 2X4 I've been using successfully for 8 years = $0.00. That $600 would go a long way towards a fantastic road trip.

Ha!

Hey, I was looking for something entirely different and I just happened to see this:

Not quite the price of a 2x4, but it looks like a good idea!

I'll admit, I haven't looked under my F54 yet to see what the jack points look like. I just haven't had the need at 1500 miles on the clock! I have been thinking about the jacking part as I know I will eventually have the need. My idea was to use the 2x4 combined with a pair of these... http://burgertuning.com/Mini_Cooper_...d_adapter.html. I was figuring to counter sink them shallowly in the wood to keep them from shifting...

Can you lift 2 wheels off the floor on the front jack point? That works well on my 2009 Clubbie.
