Hey ho,

welcome letsgofloogin!

I heard about an open training day on the Nürburgring Grand Prix track.
A few MINIs wanted to meet. I might come up, depending on the weather. Here is a link to the threat in the German forum: http://www.mini2.info/forum/showthread.php?t=26643 (in German only I'm afraid)

There is also an "international" area on the German MINI2.info forum, feel free to join us there and post in English.

Rudy, how are you?
Glad the belts thingy got resolved. It wasn't that great during the last GLP. Way too much rain so we had to go very slow. A 911 came off badly. Scotty took some pictures: http://www.adf23.de/minis/galerie/in...st=23&page=all

Cheers
Philip

I'm doing great. Preparing to park the MINI for a 4 month strech as winter approaches. Today I finished up a two day detaling project with three coats of fresh wax and sealant.

Oddly the belt thingy was resolved prior to the GLP event. I am just glad its all taken care of. I figured it was just a misunderstandment. No biggy.

The last GLP event was raining, cold, and down right miserable. I hang out by Brunchen and tried walking up to the carasel. Took a few decent photos during the first 4 or 5 laps. After that, I couldn't take anymore of the weather so I left. As I was leaving I saw the white porche get carried off the track. Not a good day for racing.

Not much on my side of MINI Motoring news. Keep us posted if you here of anything. I'll be sending you some photo's soon so keep a lookout for those.

Cheers,

RudyT

Thanks for the link PH, but I think I am going to wait until spring, when I can get rid of the run flats. What tires would you guys suggest for the track. I appreciate it.

The event tomorrow is limited to those who have signed up early. I haven't and also haven't heard about that so I might just go and watch - depending on how much sleep I get tonight due to my 4 month old son.

A couple of MINI guys meet around 10 / 10:30 at the Grand Prix Track. You are supposed to drive right into the "Fahrerlager" which has and entry point between the Dorint Hotel and Mercedes grandstand.

floo, I'm on Michelin Pilot Exalto (on standard S-lites) and am very satisfied. If you want some real track tires and don't drive in heavy rain, you can go for the semi-slick-like Kumho KU15 ECSTA MX.

You should really go to BMW dealer Autohaus Schäfer in Kaiserslautern and have a chat with "KP". He is the guys building the legendary Clubsport MINIs.

I have actually talked to KP. That is where I picked up the MINI when I bought it. I became very interested in what the shop could do for me, and I have a list of stuff that I want to do in the spring. It might be closer to summer, as I just found out that I might be deploying in Jan. for four months. We will see and I will keep in touch.

There are a lot of really good mods that you can do yourself. I have added a CAI (MINI-Madness) and MTH file as well as some other small items to my car. I have just ordered a 15% pulley as well and plan to do that myself as well. Not to mention that we have access to the auto shop for lifts and such if needed.

FYI guys, as I am doing these mods to my car, if any of you are interested in doing this stuff let me know. I should/will have all the proper items to fit things and don't mind sharing. I even have teh cable for MTH, no need to buy if you can get out my way.

I would love to do some stuff on my own, just to see how the car works and get used to the internals of it.
I am a car guy by hobby, working on my own cars since I could drive, but those were old muscle cars, big engines, carburetors, lots of space to work in. I look under the bonnet of my new baby, and I feel helpless, not knowing where to begin, what I am looking at, or how they fit such splendor in so small a package.
There is only one cure. Get in there and start tinkering. Change the oil, put a new belt on, put in a CAI. As far as I can tell, that is the best way to learn, and with support from you guys, I can't go wrong.
Thanks

It is really not all that hard. If all goes well with the postal service, I will probably be installing a 15% reduction pulley next weekend while the Mrs. is in school. I ordered it from Don (DMH Motorsports) and I HIGHLY recommend him if you are going to do anything to your car. The man has run the tests and speaks more truth than anyone I know on the MINI topic.

Anyway, if there is anything you need help with, feel free to ask.

Hello NAMers in Germany!

I'm interested in aftermarket aero side skirts that I found on eBay.de: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?..._promot_widget
There are two German vendors selling them on eBay. I contacted both of them, but neither will ship to the USA.

I'm wondering how difficult and expensive it would be to have someone help me ship the package from Germany. I'm told that the shipping box is 2000mm x 170mm x 180mm and 8kg. Any help would be appreciated, or if you can refer me to a shopping/export service that can do it for me.

Richard

I found one more vendor who carries the side skirts, and they do ship to the USA: http://www.sport-service-tuning.de/ . Their online shopping even comes in an English version. I'm planning to go ahead and order a set from them.

So I am happy about Winter, as I will be in the desert. I hate snow, and I will be back just in time for spring. Awesome.

MINI United is perhaps one of the, if not the biggest MINI Event of the century. It happened back in 2005 so I didn't have my MINI then

Here is a website that explains it all...

Also feel free to check out MotoringFile for all your latest upto date information on MINI United and don't forget the forums.

One thing is for certain, I will be attending the next one, provided its in 2007. One can only hope

hello all...new owner. Just took delivery of my '06 Pepper White Cooper S and thought I'd finally join!

Been in Germany (live in Mackenbach--near Ramstein/K-Town) about 5 months now and can't wait for next spring/summer for some trips to the ring...talked to Herr Becker at Shafer BMW/Mini when I picked up the car and will likely go there w/ him and his team mates as soon as the weather breaks.

No real pics up yet...but soon!

hello all...thought I'd already posted but don't see it... At any rate, I just took delivery of my '06 Pepper White Cooper S and thought it was time to join the crowd here. So hello!

Looking forward to meeting some of the Minin owners I see driving around here in K-Town/Ramstein area (I live in Mackenbach)...and have plans for the ring next spring/summer.

I was lucky enough to race a friend's '03 Cooper in SCCA H-Stock for a few years and can't wait to get this one back to the states to see what it's like in GS!

Gueten Tag and Welcome... 91Eunos .

Not much happening right now due to the weather. My MINI is garage for the season (moment of silence please). If I hear of any upcoming events, I'll be sure and post. I'm up by Spangdahlem, only 40 minutes from the Ring. Give me a hollar if you head up that way.

Being that this summer is my last, I want to get as many laps as possible. That place is like a sanctuary for me and Hobbes (MCS ChkMate SB/S 06)

If you do, post the details here and a few of us here in Spangdahlem can head down there... Spang town isn't too far away.

My break in period consisted of one MINI event I did with the Germany MINI club at the Odenwald Spring Break Tour last March.

I get back from my deployment in May, and I will have some time off after that. It would be great to get together and do something, like MINI U, or the ring. The guys from Shafers go to the ring on a regular basis in the spring and summer. I would like to think they wouldn't mind if we came with them

I talked to the owner for about an hour when I picked up my car...have a "date" to go w/ him and the boys in the spring! I'll have the SSRs/A048s on by then and probably a cat-back as well.

I want to keep the car legal for SCCA GS upon my return to the states in a couple of years so kind of limited on mods...bought/optioned the car specifically for that.

Will still do Koni DA shocks and a few othe rminor tweaks though...should still be a blast on the 'Ring!

Welcome all!

I can honestly say that the 15% reduction pulley was worth EVERY penny. The car is much more aggressive now. I highly recommend it.
