I'll let ya'll know how the Ring goes after my boy and I'll check it out on Sunday. Trying to sort out entry location and procedures will be interesting. Discovery learning can be painful, though!! I wanna get down there this weekend as there're HUGE questions about whether AAFES in Germany will sell gas to us Nederlanderers anymore. Some excuse about Germany changing its vehicle registration methods. Anyways, unless it does the Big S, I'm gonna swing by the Ring to at least say I've been there!!

Cheers!!

Hey all, I am in Heidelberg! Trip was uneventful minus the blown engine mount. :( I'll have to order one when I get back.

Hi to all!!
daflake, I also had to replace my motor mount because was leaking. I replaced it in 1 hour. Just use a jack to stabilize the engine and remove 4 bolts from the engine motor bracket. To remove the boftto bolt from the motor mount you need a E12 socket. I got mine at hardware store for 6 euros. Henry

Hey!!
I got mine from Baumark for 6 euros. I feel your pain. Well so far my car is working great , and the only problem so far is a RAT chewing cables and insulation stuff on my Mini. I tryied poison, spray with scents, Toilet scented bars, and rat traps with peanut butter and he still laughing at me. Well any ideas. Henry

Are you sure that it isn't a marmot? Pain in the butts they are. They do sell stuff that you buy at the baumarkt to run them off. Might be worth a try.

Oddly, I tried Practica (sp) and Hagabau here in Weiden and had no luck on the socket. I am going to Profi and OBI to see if they have it.

Hello!
Try OBI first, because they have more tools. Remenber E12, and you will need a long extension to remove the E12 bolt + without removing the front right wheel cover. Remove the 4 top bracket bolts. Also I put paper towells around the motor mount to hold the fluid and I was able to drive my Mini around for 2 two weeks until was able to fixed without damaging the car paint. Henry

Kids and I ended up making a mid-day run in Mini, to blow off some steam and the celebrate Tess' birthday. I'm still amazed that she has only about 8500 miles on her -- hard miles, sure, but still just 8500.

Route I took is here. Wasn't too bad. Would have been ideal a week or two ago, when the leaves were in full glory, and would be an ugly drive in snow. Today, though, was just fine.

Happy Birthday to Tess!

I finally got the motor mount done. Thank Henry! I found a Torx set at Baywa for 29 Euro and it has a lot of different ones including the E12. One can never have enough sockets.

Hello!!
Any of you have replaced the spark plugs and what is the gap size? My Mini got a little hesitation some times; but I'm kind of afraid to changed and start getting the loose spark plugs syndrome. Any of you have a suggestion? Henry

I truly belive the loose spark plug syndrom is because the people installing them didn't really know what they were doing. The plugs have a washer on them that will cause the plug to feel like it is tight and then break free a little only to tighten again. A good hand tight will ensure that they are seated properly BEFORE the torque.

I have done mine and have had no problems. Replaced with these...

The gap is .045

I can't remember and to be honest, I never used one. I just did a good ol fashioned hand tight. If you do a search on the forums you should be able to find it.
