Very easy. Remove cubby access covers. There is a nut on a captive bolt that needs to be removed, then you unclip the wiring harness, and the light will slip out. It is infinitely easier to do with one of those ratcheting box wrenches, I don't think there is room for a socket wrench.

Thanks!

Discovered that the nut is 10mm in case anyone is wondering...

Are there OEM tail lights available that don't have the red lens?

on the new gen 2 cars you have to carefully pop off the chrome trim around the outside of the lens and remove the screws that hold the lens to the body...

that is assuming you meant that you wanted to remove the whole lens and not just the bulbs....

Aaron--

Can you elaborate on how to remove the tail lights. I can barely reach them from the cubby hole inside the boot.

it is quite easy. if you use something (very very carefully) and pry the chrome taillight ring off, you will reveal 3 torx screws, size T20 i believe. unscrew these, reach in from the access hole and unclip the wiring harness, and push from behind and the light is free. simple as that.

if anyone reads this... i'm trying to pry out my taillight so i can workout a dimple in the body on my 2002 r50 MC. i'm using a flathead with some elec tape. maybe i'm just being overly paranoid, but it seems like the lense is starting to crack as i pry. any advice? where to start prying first?

something about prying the chrome ring, but as far as i can tell the chrome ring is underneath the lens, looking from the exterior
