Mounting Radar Detectors

How are people doing this in your 07's?

It feels like I can't with my suction cups on this car since the window is far too vertical. Wasn't sure if anyone else with an 07 was doing anything different.

I drove home with my RX65 mounted with cups about two inches or so off the dash. The vertical slant of the window works fine, but took some tweaking of the bracket (and will likely need a bit more) to keep the detector against the glass and not rattling. What's more of a problem is the curve of the glass. You really need to keep it centered, which means you need to run it a bit higher than you might otherwise, to keep the driver's side wiper from interfering.

I velcro my detector to the dash on all of my cars. Although this is not the ultimate location, I prefer to keep my detector out of sight of prying eyes. In the MINI, I have a small base that I mount the detector to.

My Escort Pasport 8500 works fine centered and obout 3-4 inches off the dash..

Bent the bracket down a bit (opened up the angle) before clipping in the detector.

My Passport sits perfectly (with suction cups) right between the headliner and the rear-view mirror (hardwired into fuse box).

I visor clipped my Ecort 9500i to the headliner edge just to the left of the rear view mirror. Also used some hook velcro tap to stick it to overlying headliner to keep it from bouncing or sliding sideways. BTW, it's hardwired tucked along the headliner down the A-pillar weatherstripping and to the fusebox.

It's not easy to remove where I put it, so it won't work well if you remove yours after you park.

This is the way I have my Bel mounted, and so far, I like it a lot. It's a very nice and well designed part.

Visor clipped my V1 to the headliner just to the right of the mirror, slightly behind it.

Mounting of Whitler Pro 78. I mounted my RD above and to the right of the mirror. I have it wired using fuse #42 (lighter 20A) and grounded it in right side of the glove box. The wiring tucked up behind the weather seal and under the headliner, makes a clean install.

Thanks everyone that has posted their installs

To the right of the mirror clipped to the headliner similar to what Maxx did -- very difficult to see from the outside. I picked off power from the switches and lights in the top centre; the radar detector powers up when I unlock a door, and powers down 20 minutes or so after I shut things down or lock the car.
